Seriously though Paulie, I think you're going too short on top. I'd keep to a 7 or 8 at the side, then really work those GHDs to provide some lift and body to the front and the crown. End with some twizzling scrunch to try and give a bit of a relaxed natural feel.
You have a great cheekbone structure to carry a fuller boldness, I think you'd be surprised with the results. I know I'm pleased with my current look

But in seriousness wait till long enough to poke through a sieve and colander , liberally apply some lemon juice and sit in the sun for a few hours. Alternatively grow it longer and go for a more on trend dip dye.
I don't understand why someone would get abuse for enquiring about highlights (although if he's got dark hair perhaps lowlights would be the better option?) when it's deemed by many to be entirely acceptable to disfigure your body with nasty, tacky tattoos. Weird.
