In fairness to Poll, he did give him the "there was that foul over there, and that one over there, and that one over there, this is your last warning" talking to when he could quite justifiably have reached for the second yellow straight off at that point.

Maybe the stupid pr*ck was trying to make up for the total f*ck up he and his linesman made against Fulham? It's not often the words "fairness to" and "Poll", appear in the same sentence.
Surely the Reading player should of got booked as well as Song for retaliation. Also Poll aprantley telling Pards to take Song off is very bad referring again. Start going down that road Poll the game will get like Rugby Union where the ref tells the players where they are going wrong.

Why is Poll advising Pards to take Song off bad refereeing - i think that is excellent refereeing an just goes to show Poll does care about the game to a certain extent. he knew how important the game was and if true hats off to Poll for me.
This whole "Poll giving pards the nod" thing has been blown out of all proportion and TalkSport (plus many papers) should be worried about a lawsuit. There's nothing wrong with a manager saying to the ref "if you tell a player one more and you're off can you let me know too", it's good refereeing and should be done more often. Listening to talkSport this morning brazil was calling Pardew and Poll cheats (his words). I think he will only get away with it because there is absolutely no point in antagonising the media, especially as talkSport is owned by Sky.
what next the linesman telling a player that he is in an offside position. I think the ref should just make the decisions not tell players what to do to avoid certain situations.

It happens in cricket, if a bowler is getting close to bowling No-Balls, the Umpire has a quiet word.
The whole thing has been blown out of all proportion- just for a change.
It's called Common Sense.
Whilst I would like to say that Poll did a good thing, how would we feel watching say Sheff Utd V West Ham an a similar incident happened would we be quite so happy ? Probably not I'd hazard a guess.
I think its great little mind games and management from Pardew, that i would only really of expected from Ferguson or Mourinho. Ultimately, he was slyly putting pressure on Poll not to do anything drastic.

Why should we be unhappy if a similar thing happened in that game?
Common sense communication with players and officials is common sense refereeing.

Would that affect us though? i dunno, but i think on a game by game basis this was a good thing he had done.
another way to look at it is if Song was left on due to Poll not saying anything he could of set up a winner for us since he is the most creative player we have got.

Pards asked him to give him a nod.

if anything, thats how it should be, ultimately thew manager is in charge of the players and should be told if they are not behaving themselves...
And that includes communication with assisting officials, players and team managers.
