  • Reza too lightweight to play upfront on his own. Let's start with him and Obika.
  • Bolton are a half decent team with half decent players. We are poor.

    3-0 Bolton.
  • Lose 7-1
  • I'm sitting here watching the first team train and I'm no expert but it is so subdued out there. I get that it's a light session with a game tomorrow and players are pissed off having been made to come in yesterday but we look completely flat.
  • Very sorry to say it but I think we have completely run out of steam and self-belief.

Only Cousins and Poyet still seem to have something left and for all their talent, neither are goal scorers.

This looks like a heavy home defeat and the wheels officially falling off the Belgian bus.
  • A team totally shot of confidence and a set of `strikers' that should be charged under the trades discription act. Couple this with this `Valley Of Red' thing and it all looks depressingly inevitable....we've had it.

    0-2 defeat
  • all the signs are there for a thumping.

Holiday week so CAFC always feck your weekends up.
    Sea of red
    we have to win
we have hit the wall-------shame it wasnt millwall.
  • i wanna be positive but i can't. we are proper shit. 0-3
  • I honestly don't think the players have the belief any longer.

The last 2 games have garnered a total of 2 shots on target.
If we are to win this game we have to be looking for at least 6 attempts on target. I'm not talking about attempts from 40 yards that end up in the top tier of the covered end. I mean proper attempts on goal, like you might expect from any normal home team.
Alas I believe we are doomed to fail, as I can't see Bolton failing to score, whilst I can't see an obvious Charlton hero coming to our salvation. Hope I'm wrong.
    1-2.

Yes we were poor against Barnsley, yes the effects of 2 games a week for the last 5 weeks are taking their toll, yes we can't score......

However, I am going there 100% positive. I am the first to criticise on here when we have played shit in the past. I think that had we beaten Barnsley on Tuesday night opening up a 4pt gap, the players may have fallen into the trap of we've won one, we can lose one. Now as Henry says, every result counts. People have been very quick to pull Riga up on tactics and team selection. The squad he took over was poor. I actually think 4 wins from 11 represents a good return based on where we were, and the type of football that had set in under CP. I am still a CP fan, but do not believe he would've got us those 4 wins with his set up and style of football. A lot of you may have missed it, but during the first half when Harriott made yet another mistake, and the crowd jeered/groaned in frustration, Riga got upset. He was annoyed we were getting on his back. I am not defending Harriott's performance or fans' right to boo as paying spectators. I am trying to point out that we are now part of that run in. The north stand were excellent throughout on Tuesday. I believe that if, as a collective we get behind those boys like we did on Tuesday, it will transfer onto the pitch. Jose doesn't have much to choose from. I believe Jose attempts to make positive changes and implement a positive style of football on the pitch. We made a mistake against Barnsley and got punished, followed by a fluk-ish goal. We have a mountain to climb because we all know we struggle to score goals, but I urge everyone to cast off the disappointment of Tuesday, this season, Simon F'n Church. We will pull the players through this if we keep the levels of atmosphere up at the home games like we have done.

I know this post goes against the majority of feeling on here, but I just don't care for the doom & gloom any more.

I am backing us to win tomorrow and stay up........

you got me cabbles! 4-0 charlton

    Why not;-)
  • We're on a run of two defeats, playing poorly, we have one of our better players out for the season, another playing in a mask, poor team selections, a keeper that has gone back to making errors and an inability to score goals.

I'll go for a win as that would be typical of the Charlton I have supported all these years.

Great post, cabbles. Couldn't have said it better myself ! :-)

I KNOW how hard it is to be 100% positive following the last 2 defeats, with Tuesday's being particularly galling.

However, we start again tomorrow with a clean sheet....same as Bolton. Forget what's gone before - " Tomorrow is another day" ..

Vote for your Player of the Year, maybe have a wee dram, take your seat , hold up your programme and make up your mind to get behind the lads once that whistle's blown.

NO-ONE will go onto that pitch half heartedly. The players have to be positive they can win this one. And so should we. But as importantly, we must make them know we have faith in them to pull this one out of the bag. Can't see too many Trotters travelling south so we'll have little to drown out, so let's DO IT !!!!

I don't care who starts - if it's young Callum, I'll give him my full support /another chance to show what he can do. We have to put what's gone before, behind us (????) And if I hear the slightest hint of a "boo", the wrath of Fanny, with THAT glare destined to turn the recipient to stone, will be evident. You've been warned ....

2 wins from our next 2 games ? Why not ?

    Onwards & upwards !!!

  • Best we can hope for is 0-0.

    I don't see it. 0-3 Bolton.
  • Thank f##k this is the last game I can get to!

The last game of the season?!?! Thank f##k!

oh no wait, last one you can go to, f##k

  • Usually read therough these treads getting annoyed at negativity but sad to say all i can muster is defeatest agreement that we are shite.

Dont really rate any of the sides around us but of little significance if we cant even score.

would say 3-0 but as its a friday and not the weekend, 2-0

Very worrying to hear that. I really think we need a couple of experienced players I.e. Gower or Hughes to steady the ship and maybe look for a draw Playing 4-5-1

Bolton were not impressive when we got a point there early in the season .. they have just won 3 on the trot including 2 away from home .. they will be hard to beat .. we need to select the strongest available team and not worry about 'conserving' players for a hectic end of season schedule .. a point is the best we can hope for .. the good(ish) news .. Bolton find it nearly as difficult to score as do we

    CAFC 1 v Bolton Wanderers 1

  • Charlton need to find some defensive solidity again. I hope that the 3 team selections are aberrations and Riga finds some balance in the team again. Difficult as it is to try to make a decent outfit of scraps. Even poor teams get some luck, look at Millwall and Barnsley. I am hoping that Charlton can squeeze some points out of the last few games. If Charlton can get above Blackpool, it will put a lot of pressure on them.

I can't see anything the than a heavy defeat. Bolton have only conceded 6 in there last 8 games and our toothless attack are hardly likely to cause them any problems.

    0-3
  • Really cant comprehend Riga's selection theory on Tuesday - 'rests' 3 of what have been first choice team , for the biggest game !! makes no sense whatsoever.
I have only seen us score 3 goals this season, so it will be a 0-2 loss i'm afraid. Be ecstatic with 0-0 draw tbh.
  • Badly need a win after the Barnsley defeat but I fancy a 1-1 draw.
  • Given up trying to work out what system, tactics and players Swiss Tony, sorry the new special one, is going to choose. I think the players are probably as mystified as we all are. Still I have the consolation of knowing the Nutty Professors network is genius and Reza will come good,

Praying for a win. I don't fancy Rochdale or Scunthorpe again.....

    Bolton's last 12 games. W7 D4 L1 - form table = top :-(
  • Oh dear, everyone is very negative on here and with good reason. No Wiggins is a huge blow and will reduce even more our creativity. If we can score the first goal then maybe but it seems so unlikely. 2-0 Bolton and those relegation odds shorten again.
  • 2-0 addicks
  • Just got back from holiday to find MASSIVE credit card bill and a speeding fine. Just need the boys to capitulate and I'll be heading out to the barn with a bottle of scotch and a revolver.

    (I don't actually have a barn.)
