at least Rochdale are well in line for promotion despite a thumping at improving Mansfield .. however, the (Sir) Cyril Smith rumpus might bring the name of Rochdale into some disrepute
What a knobhead that writer is, mistaking his sense of entitlement for being "long suffering". Fans of all the clubs around the country would kill for some of the achievements Leeds have made, quarter final of the champions league etc. Up there with Liverpool and Arsenal fans constantly complaining about how hard it is to support their club and how they "deserve" a trophy.
"it's still harder to be a Leeds United fan, argues Dominic Smith", despite them being seventh in the 'Least Suffering' list!?!?!?
It probably is, actually. Rochdale fans don't expect to be in the Premier League. Historically they have always been a much smaller and less successful club than Leeds United. Without a population explosion or oil boom in Rochdale, it's likely to be the same into the future. Challenging for the League 1 playoffs would be a great season for Rochdale, but probably not for Leeds.
I would be surprised if Rochdale, Hartlepool or Exeter were near the top of a 'most depressed fans' index if there was a survey.
Both the 'index' and 'article' appear to be a load of crap to me.
The former managing director of Leeds United David Haigh has claimed that surveillance devices were installed at Elland Road due to suspicions Class A drugs were being used in the boardroom.
Mr Haigh, who quit the club last month, made the claims after being interviewed by West Yorkshire Police.
The force is examining whether football club money was used fraudulently to pay for spy cameras that were found there.
Mr Haigh, 36, said in a statement the devices had been "properly paid for".
'Police drugs report' The presence of the cameras in the boardroom and toilets of the Championship club was not enough to prompt a criminal probe, but allegations they were purchased as a result of a misappropriation of club funds were.
In Mr Haigh's statement on Thursday afternoon, a spokesman for him said: "David has today given a full statement to police officers investigating complaints made to West Yorkshire Police by the new majority shareholders of Leeds United FC that surveillance devices were found at various locations, including the boardroom, at Elland Road.
"As the former managing director of the club, David was fully aware of the installation of these devices, which were quite properly paid for by the club.
"They were put in place following reports which he received between the end of January and early March this year alleging the recent misuse of Class A drugs. One of these reports was made by police.

AFC Wimbledon yes got done over by MK Dons (fair enough) but they've had a ton of promotions most non-league / lower league clubs would only dream of

Does misuse mean they put it in the Yorkshire pudding mix?
