Brilliant stuff. I'd forgotten all about it, but I remember it well. Maybe, a camel and an elephant up front would solve our goalscoring problems.

This tradition has been going on since then, as I've seen plenty of clowns and circus freaks down the valley over the years...................

The elephant was the one that had a dump & pee in The Blue Peter studio & then pulled over the handler, who slid all through it.

Just looked the game up in the book.....
4th October 1969....2-2 v Portsmouth (Kenning 22 & 36).
Team; Burns, Curtis, Kinsey, Campbell, Keirs, Reeves, Kenning, Treacy, Gilchrist, Booth, Peacock (sub; Gregory)
Attendance 12,755 (plus one camel and one small elephant)
Average that season 12,693
Highest 21,757 v Millwall (Tuesday night...drew 2-2 with a late Gregory equaliser)
Lowest 7,644 v Bolton
