As I said on another thread, fella I sit next to knows Solly's folks and he's definitely out for the rest of the season. He didn't know any more. If Wilson's not fit I'd like to see Nego given a go, or failing that Cousins. We've had enough problems in the last couple of seasons with players out of position.
It's funny how all these players are being written off as not being good enough for RB when many people (myself included) were adamant that Wilson could not defend after his first few games at RB. He grew into it and who's to say any other player with a right foot can't do the same? Although of course we don't really have the time for that.
In regards to Nego being ignored against Yeovil it completely depends of course when Wilson got this injury... Even had it been before the U21 match that Nego played in, Riga may have felt that he wasnt match sharp enough to play on Tuesday so was pitched in for the U21s should the worst case scenario happen on the Weekend and Wilson cant play.
Nego is a 23year old RB on a 3.5 year contract, he really ought to be the deputy for Wilson.
The curious thing though, is that all the time Wilson was playing, Nego was on the bench, whereas when Wilson was missing injured, Nego wasn't on the bench...
I don't think we want to play inexperienced players out of position. Against Brighton Jose seems to have 4 options: 1) Play Wilson - who will be wearing protection - the downside with this is, it might risk him not being fit for Tuesday. 2) Play Nego - we don't see him in training and for U-21s so can't really form an opinion if he is ready to face Brighton. 3) Play Morro again - the dwnside is that he isn't a right back - but whilst he looks ungainly he could still do a job - it was his pass to Poyet that bagan the build up to our third goal. 4) Play Cousins - as he has repesented his country and the youth team in thi sposition, it should not be too hard for him to fit in - the downside is who do we replace him with in midfield?
There is a 5th option, which is to change the formation. Risky as we have gained important victories away playing our way - but we could go with 3 at the back with Wiggins and cousins as wing backs! To play this effectively we probably need to go with 2 or even 3 front men (3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2). It might surprise Brighton too!
I think Riga had half an eye (excuse the pun Lawrie) on the Yeovil game last Saturday - so he might take a bit of a gamble against Brighton and do this - resting Wilson. He might feel more confident playing Nego as a wing back and keep Cousins in the middle. That would probably mean playing JJ or AA just behind a front two of Reza and Sordell - subbing one for the other at some point.
In regards to playing three at the back I remember Saturday when I was watching Soccer Saturday...
Paul Merson was discussing how Sunderland against West Ham decided to play three at the back and that it isnt as easy as people think for players to switch from the usual four at the back to the three because everything changes (i.e. positioning then you have the wing-backs) everyone really has to know their role and be comfortable at it
I'd play Nego @ Right-Back against Brighton giving Wilson a rest for Barnsley

I agree - Chrissy did play it with some success earlier in the season - I think we beat Leicester playing this way - but you would do it against Brighton as a punt really. I am a great believer that a manager should not have a favourite system - he should look at the players at his disposal and play his system around that. But to play a new way takes a lot of work - it's just that this shouldn't be new to most of the squad.

what about play Hughes?
personally I'd play Nego, never seen him play but he is actually a RB and at 23 he's not wet behind the ears
The thing about a broken eye socket, is that it's not an injury you need to rest, either he can wear adequate facial protection to enable him to play, or it's not possible and he won't play. By Tuesday the injury is unlikely to be much different to Saturday anyway.
