Need help with travel for tonight please :)

Hello All,

I normally travel to the game from Rainham station in Essex,( 2 mins walk from home) i get the c2c to west ham , swap at Stratford and get the train to north Greenwich station and walk from there,

however when i do this after the match, its a long walk and i don't get home to late around 11.50 - 12pm ( have to get up for work at 5am) -it just kills the buzz to go , i know it shouldn't but just knowing what i have to do after the game is a killer

Im not from around Greenwhich area so i get confused ,I have been going since a young boy via dads transport but unfortunately he is ill and the Mrs has the car tonight ( ALLLL my mates are West ham fans as-well so that's another lift screwed,

I'm just wondering can anyone else help me with a easier route? I know there's a Charlton station but looks a nightmare to get home from and i don't know any of their routes and their website is a mess

ANY help would be highly appreciated guys

Thanks

  • 486 bus from North Greenwich
  • Best bet get any bus to North Greenwich Tube Station. Then take the Jubilee Line to West Ham and I am sure you can get a train to Rainham from West Ham station.
  • Pop down to Greenwich for a few late beers then head straight to work.
  • Several bus routes go between North Greenwich and Charlton (486, 472, 161)
  • After the game, get a bus to North Greenwich Tube: 486 from Charlton Church Lane or 472 from the Woolwich Road. Journey time is only 10 minutes. Then Jubilee to West Ham and Overground to Rainham.
  • Bus to North Woolwich and walk through the foot tunnel?
  • Brilliant thanks , what's it like trying to get on that bus after the game ? A nightmare or fairly quite ? I can't imagine many people going my way to be honest
  • There's always a reasonable number on the bus, either getting on in Woolwich Road or round the corner on Bugsby's Way, traffic can be slow, but not so bad midweek

  • Shouldn't be too busy - and the buses are quite frequent. Remember there's no need to go via Stratford; just hop off the Jubilee Line at West Ham, and on to the Overground to Rainham: trains leave at 14 and 44 minutes past each hour. You should be at Rainham by ten-thirty.
