If You think Duchatelet interferes at Charlton then check out the farce at Leeds....

Could not believe what I was reading here, the Bahraini owners were asking McDermott to submit team line-up AND tactics to them 24-hours before each match for their approval.

Christ Almighty, can you believe the nerve of these people? Owners are entitled to question team management but this is madness.

Utter madness. Why has McDermott put up with that? Or is it McDoormat?

Possibly waiting to be sacked so he can pick up a payoff?

Bottom line is the manager works for the owner or chairman and not the fans. How that dialogue is managed and what it contains is beyond me... We should hold Richard Murray accountable for splitting the Curbs gritty team and delivering the Premier league followed by Dowie, Pardew, Parkinson...
Just as the fans should expect to relate to Duchatelet now who in turn manages Riga. It either works or its time to move on and we don't move, nor does the chairman so...

True, but the folks running GFH seem to care little for proper governance.

They actually spend very little time in the UK so getting any compensation would be very hard.

This is all going to get very messy.

That is total humiliation... I feel sorry for McDermott. No matter how bad the results have been, a manager shouldn't be treated like that. Their owner obviously runs the football club the same way he runs his bank - detailed reports of this and that, how ridiculous it is.

I think this sort of stories will keep surfacing with so many foreign wealthy business people coming into the world of English football these days.

I think you are almost certainly right Jessie!

    I think it already is!

I listened to Trevor. Cherry on Talkshite about 3 weeks ago and he was at a total loss as to why a true investor (as opposed to a bunch of chancers) had not come in for LUFC. They are the only club in a thriving city with a large fan base that could so easily support Prem football.

But footy ownership is a major headache and Roly & Co are angels in comparison.

Because their players are on mental wages their behind the scenes structure is still prem league standard

Their fans are Millwank of the north and they are as seriously deluded of their actual size in English football

Yes undoubtably Leeds are a huge club with regards to fan base

Due to them being a single club city

But as a club they are not in the league of

    Man U
    Man citeh
    Liverpool
    Arsenal
    Spurs
    Chelsea

As big powerhouses of English football

All of the above have grown due to the premier league (except man citeh and Chelsea whose billions from owners have assisted )

Leeds went from top 4 in the prem to 3rd division

They have never managed to use the premier league money to the benefit of their club

They needed to be asset stripped and bought back down to bear bones and to start again

With the mentality they are a big club waiting to happen instead of a big club on its haunches

Until that happens Leeds will go from league to league and barn pot owner to barn pot owner

And I personally won't give two f**ks in fact I will quite enjoy it

If them and covendisentry went bust and vanished forever I wouldn't bat an eyelid

Who owns Elland Rd now? The "myth" of Leeds means that buyers see a distressed club that can be easily turned around and quick money made when they have deep rooted problems it will take a lot to change. Far more than CAFC but similar in that they can't cover their costs, can only change that by drastic cuts or promotion but need long term injections of cash to go up.

It's one thing to say an owner should have control and influence but another to say they should micro-manage processes in specialist areas where they have no experience or knowledge.

You wouldn't want a hospital owner telling a surgeon how and when to operate or a building co. manager telling an electrican how to wire a house. They would rightly say we want these results and to reach these standards and remove the sawbones or sparks if not achieved but unless they have the experience how can they tell a manager to pick a team.

I'm not saying owners shouldn't have a view or the right to sack but if you appoint an expert you do that because they have expertise you don't.

I don't think it is just foreign owners either, it just that a lot of the new mega rich "investors" looking to make a quick euro/dollar/yen happen to come from abroad and come with totally different attitudes. Not so much because of nationality, although that is a factor, but because of their aims ie make money quick.

I add I don't think RD is I that group but he and or his advisors got it badly wrong in January as they didn't trust or believe the specialist they had in place so they got a different specialist in.
