Are we feeling confident yet.....

  • My philosophy…Beware the Dartmoor mist. It can creep up on you when you’re least expecting it. Always expect the unexpected

    We're playing Yeovil at home.
  • 3 more wins will do it. We have just come through Forest, Derby and Leeds away with 6 points.

I fancy us to win 3 of our remaining home games which will be enough imo
  • Never really confident we are Charlton, never do it the easy way - But win the next two games and i will be confident. C'mon lads please.
  • Still think it won't be settled until the last week if not the last day.
  • We are Charlton, of course it will go to the last week. Doing it the easy way is not the Charlton way.
  • Still can't get the nagging fear that Blackpool is the last game out of my mind.

They say things happen in threes and Blackpool relegated us in 1972 and 2009!
  • Under Riga, we haven't had a game where both teams have scored in the same match.

1st goal vs reading and Yeovil is extremely important, vital is the word.
  • The narrow margins in which we do win games does not make me particularly confident about the rest of em, but a win is a win, and if we can repeat what we have previously done, then brilliant.
  • I think other clubs may still come into the relegation mix, whats the score with Leeds and admin at the moment, anyone know?
  • Very confident simply because the team is improving and appearing to gel every time I see them. Yes we have lost 3-0 a couple of times but we have come back. Our only issue is the risk of injuries as we have a lot of games to play.

Agreed, Len - it's the opposite of Carlisle!

  • I would say more hopeful than confident.
  • We're in a brilliant position to survive now and I don't see any reason why we won't. The squad and manager seem capable enough to do it so it will be down to lack of effort if we go down now, no excuses.

Agreed but I hope we are safe by then...haven't done any predictors but Fink Tank said we finish 6 points clear last time I looked so I'll take that ;)

Reading between the lines, I think you think that we have done well to give ourselves a decent chance of escaping. I'd agree with that. However, I wouldn't agree that we are in a "brilliant position" (11th or above would be nicer) and I am not sure it will be lack of effort - it's more likely to be lack of ability/goals/luck etc.
  • Why are you all feeling like that

When we win the 2 games in hand we have over Yeovil and millwankstain they are out of the picture

It would also mean we have beaten Barnsley as well

Some of you worry far too much
  • Certainly more confident than before the Forest & Leeds away games but like many others ask me again after the Barnsley game when the picture will be much clearer. We should stay up from here but lets not count our chickens just yet.

I only worry about things I can do something about. I do think it will be tough if we go down. I am not sure what will happen if we go down. If we stay up, I think we will do better next year. Just my opinion.
  • My main worry is that due to the boo boys and moaners, we've lost the Fortress Valley" where the fans are all behind the players, roaring them to success. This has gone but still when we are rocking the players perform better... Last time was the Cardiff game 0-2 to 5-2... Will we do this tomorrow?
  • I think if all goes well and we stay up we should feel positive for our future. We will not spend millions on players, but I feel RD will spend enough to make sure we will not be in this position again. If we can be patient (as if we have not had enough practice), we will see the club prosper from youth upwards, especially if we can get category 1. Hopefully Premier league in about 2-3 years.

    Fuller scores the decider???
  • I've always been confident we'd stay up. Admittedly, what I thought would be a flirt with relegation has turned more into heavy petting but I still think we'll do it.

My concern a while back was that we might flounder while teams around us kept picking up points here and there, but momentum has been slowly building in the last few weeks, going right back to before Powell was sacked. It's been a bit two steps forward, one step back, but we're keeping the points total ticking over and edging closer and closer. As it's turned out it looks like Millwall are the most likely to sink first.

Three wins might be enough now, 4 almost certainly will imo, as long as it includes, at the very least, avoiding defeat vs Barnsley and Yeovil. Lose to Barnsley in particular and it might get a bit more interesting.

Over the last 2 or 3 seasons we've tended to pull out a result when it's been really needed and I think we'll do that again in those big games. Reckon it'll be a point vs Barnsely and win vs Yeovil plus another couple of wins somewhere along the line (maybe Saturday) which will leave us needing to lose vs Blackpool and be victim of a big swing in goal difference to get relegated at which point we'll grind out a dire 0-0 draw at Bloomfield Rd and get over the line - just.
  • I think it will be decided before Blackpool

I blooming hope so, that would be a horrible thought of Ricardo sending us down, c'mon Charlton let's stuff Reading, and get some more points on the board.

  • The only time I lost confidence in us staying up was when Powell went. I thought a combination of the disruption caused and bringing in a manager without English league experience would prove our undoing. Huge credit has to go to Riga and Fraeye, Dyer and Matthew and the players for the way they've managed the transition. We'll be fine.
  • It's very much in our own hands.

We just focus on our next match. When that has finished only then focus on the next one.
You can only play one game at a time.

If we look after our own game and bring in a point or 3, then if other teams around us drop points it's a bonus.

Remember Yeovil and Millwall have only 7 games left to get the 15 or 16 points they need.
    Blimey, that's promotion form!
