The table as it stands..

Still 2 games in hand, one against Barnsley - but 3 points away from the drop.

Looking much nicer.

  • It's looking much better than for some time now. Also great to see Millwall down there, although they are one position too far up ;)
  • that Barnsley home game is the most important game of the season
  • Win our games in hand and we'll go up to 18th...
  • Our position in the table is irrelevant, the only important thing now this season is the number of points we are away from the team in 22nd place.
  • Win our games in hand and we'll go up to 18th...

Provided we equal / better the results of those sides just above us of course when we're not using our matches in hand
  • 18 Doncaster 39 -22 43
    19 Blackpool 39 -21 42
    20 Birmingham 39 -10 40
    21 Charlton 37 -20 38
    -----------------------------
    22 Barnsley 38 -27 35
    23 Millwall 39 -32 33
    24 Yeovil 39 -25 32

As @Callumcafc‌ says, with two games in hand we can actually push up quite nicely.

We've got hard games ahead though, so I don't want to get too carried away.. it does put things in to perspective though!

However, Yeovil and Barnsley are huge games for our survival and for how the bottom of the table may turn out overall.
  • One game in hand surely? Barnsley are the biggest threat.
  • 6 points ahead of yeovil, as long as we don't lose to them, they won't catch us.
Lose to Barnsley at home though, it'll become very tight, and the goal difference will narrow. That's a crucial game
  • Leeds going in to admin could be good!!
  • Having to play so many home games on our "distinguished" pitch should be something that we can turn to our advantage.

  • Beat Barnsley and Yeovil, we're staying up.
  • Mustn't lose to Barnsley. If the status quo is maintained after that one then I will be very hopeful.
  • Win midweek 1-0, lose at the weekend 3-0, the magic formula to keep us up!
  • We'd be 4 points clear of Brum if we'd beaten them at the Valley. All about the margins this game.

Still, them and Blackpool are dropping like stones, if Jose keeps these results going we might finish above them even if Barnsley complete the great escape.

Not at this stage it isn't because there's no guarantee who the team in 22nd will be. We want as many teams beneath us us possible. Come back on the final day of the season and say that and you might be a bit closer to being right.

It's now Birmingham's turn to face 3 consecutive away games - Doncaster, Middlesbrough and Forest.

You'd have to fancy them to pick up 3 or 4 points from that lot, perhaps?

  • Fascinating finale to the season.
  • We have very similar fixtures on Saturday. Reading at home for us Brighton for them. We then are both at home again on Tuesday, but they have Burnley and we have Yeovil. If we can outscore them in terms of points in those two games, ideally 4 to 1, for example, then things will start to look significantly healthier. If we can go into our game with them with more than a 3 point cushion, the pressure will be all on them.

Am I missing something or why does you table say we have played 37 and -20 goal difference and 3 points?

  • Birmingham are decent away. It's at St Andrews that they have problems.
  • If they don't catch up any points on us Saturday, then next Tuesday we have a chance to relegate Yeovil if we win IMO.

    It's in our hands.
  • That's the MOST important thing.

    It's in our hands.
  • Blackburn look decent
  • We won't have a harder set of fixtures remaining in a group like that

    Burnley home
    Forest away
    Derby away
    Leeds away

And I doubt our rivals at the bottom would have

Add into that the fact we have also faced Leicester and QPR and a local derby against Millwank and an inform Bournemouth

All the teams around us would've looked at those fixtures and thought if we were going to be cut adrift and in big trouble then now was the time they had to pick up results

You could tell by holloways reaction to a draw that the ball was firmly in our court

Yeovil hit a vein of form that was unprecedented for their season

But never got over the line for three points in virtually all those games that they put in huge efforts

Barnsley getting the three points At Yeovil would've also thought that Saturday would be a huge ask for us and they were right and that tonight would've been a real tough fixture

What Jose has managed to do can not be underestimated to take the points we have in the hardest set of fixtures that have run virtually back to back all season has not only put points in the bag but absolutely demoralised the plans and words of every manager trying to get us back in the bottom three and every manger at the clubs just above us

I predicted we would win three of the 4 games in hand and that these 9 points will see us safe

Can you imagine Birmingham and Blackpool looking at us now and saying shit we really need to pick up results

And Barnsley and Yeovil Millwank saying if we can't catch them as they keep getting results then it don't matter what we do as we will be down

Their mgrs would've been saying we will catch them they will drop points in the end the players will lose belief and resolve will be broken

    Excellent post NLA
  • Top post. Just to add that we now have Obika and Reza who can score and Ajdarevic and Poyet who can play through balls... Once again tonight we created more than ten chances.
Just a week until the first crunch game vs Yeovil.
The only risk we carry is if Wilson gets injured.
