Voting is now underway for the Hall of Fame. In the first two years we have inducted Messrs Bartram, Welsh, Hales, Peacock, Mendonca and Rufus and their names are recorded on the nice new shiny Honours Board which will be found in the Museum ( when we finally get it open).

Stuart Leary
Sir Chris Powell
Stuart Leary
Sir Christopher Powell
Played 74 times for the Addicks at full back, his career curtailed by WW2 and injury, including in the 1947 Cup winning team before serving the club and local football for many years as an administrator. A gentleman of the first order as any who met him will tell you and worthy of the minutes applause given him when he died only a few seasons ago.
Bert Johnson
142 matches from 1946 to 1953 at wing half (midfield for the youngsters) including both cup finals and played in the post war sides that finished 3rd and 4th in the old first division. Went on to be chief coach at Leicester for many years when the foxes reached four cup finals and later at Forest.
Jimmy Oakes
One of the pre-war greats he was a key part of the double promotion team that then finished as runners up in the top flight.
He played 220 games at left back but is often remembered for one game he played against Charlton. He was representing Port Vale at the Valley when the game was abandoned (that would never happen these days). By the time of the re-arranged game he had transfered to Charlton and so played for both sides in the same fixture.
Stuart Leary - Top Scorer
Mark Kinsella - '98 / Premier League Captain
A home grown midfielder and Captain, playing 169 games, who won two England caps while with 2nd division Charlton. He was sold to Wolves (they were a big club then and went on the captain them in the first division). A very successful manager he took the relegated Addicks back up at the first attempt in 1981. A falling out meant we lost him to BRighton and got ********* Alan Mullery in return!
STUART LEARY
South African striker hailed by many who saw him play in the late 50s as one of their favourite players. Played 403 times and scored 163 goals (2nd to Derek Hales, Leary still holds the league goals record at 153). Also a first class cricketer. His sale to QPR caused uproar amongst fans. Tragically committed suicide in 1988
DEREK UFTON
The Crayford boy who went on to play 277 games for his only club, other than Kent CCC. He would end up on the board of both. Played in our record win and record defeat as well as 20 mins in the "that" Huddersfield game. His shoulder popped out, as it often did, so sealing the legendary status of the come back from 5 - 1 down to win 7 - 6
DEREK UFTON
CHRIS POWELL
Legend who lifted two trophies, the only Charlton captain to do so. The driving force of the play-off final and Championship team
ROBERT LEE
Youth product and turnstile who paid, via his transfer fee, to get us back to the Valley. Scored the "last" goal at the Valley
CHRIS POWELL
Legend who played for the club in three different spells, including its best finish since the 1950s, and was the first Addick to win an England cap since Bailey in 1964. Also manager of the team when they set the Club's record points tally and set over 20 club records.
Stuart Leary
Chris Powell
remember to vote on the survey not just on CL
Leary
Kinsella
Kinsella for his loyalty of resigning a contract, when he could've gone elsewhere.
Playing careers there are different things to compare, but i put their + and - just about even in comparison. Both went on to work for the club, but Powell edges it for me having a good managerial spell and that extra bit of 'je ne sais pas'
Do we keep voting every year, until virtually all our "heroes" are inducted ?
If so, what's the point ?
No doubt, there is a point that I'm missing.
Yes, that is the point.
There could just be a huge induction of 100/200/3000 hall of famers but where is the fun in that? And genuine heroes would be lost in the mass of names inducted.
This way fans get to vote, it isn't just about this year's heroes (you have to be retired from playing for three years before being nominated) and people will hopefully read about and discuss the players from before their era and those they do remember.
When the three names are decided that is a chance to reflect on what those three individuals did for the Club.
Blame BedsAddick as it was his idea that we should have a Hall of Fame again.
