Hold our nerve

We must all hold our nerve and not over-react. We probably all thought we would struggle to get something today. There will be ups and downs and it will go to the wire. Somehow, I believe our games in hand will save us ! Stick together Addicks !

  • It's all about the home games v Yeovil, Barnsley & Bolton. They're the winnable games. Anything else we get from the rest is a bonus.
  • Been fairly optimistic up until now but the lack of goals will send us down.
  • Agreed SHG, if you can't score goals you can't win, Yeovil are scoring goals regularly.
  • So poor going forward, apart from a couple of very late set pieces v QPR and Bournemouth we'd be in worse trouble. Too many games coming up will cost us.
  • No goals + wilting when we concede = relegation. Only the ineptitude of others will keep us up.
  • As I said let's not get carried away. They were a big strong and efficient side (Jose loves that word ). We need to find a way of scoring goals. For me Sordell & Obika up top. Church has had enough chances.
  • If we persist with Green and Spongefoot we haven't got a prayer.
  • Its been said many times already, but Church's utter inability to shoot is pathetic. That one on one today! Dear oh dear....

I agree although was disappointed with Obika he struggled to hold the ball up. Church runs all day but does nothing and Reza looks out of his depth which surprises me.
  • One goal in four games tells its own story.

I agree, Obika was poor today. It might be we have to sacrifice Jordan to get some sort of attacking threat from midfield AA maybe ? Maybe Jordan to full back, LW wide right, who knows.

  • Would love to see Wilson moved forward. Wasn't it mentioned Luke Young might come in on loan. We could do with something like that. Chris Baird must be knocking on but he looked good at right back for them. Wilson couldn't get forward at all today.
  • None of our players look like scoring - can't see us staying up.
  • Good call NWC, but god they make it hard to keep the faith.
  • This season I haven't seen three other teams who are worse than us. Oh yes, and we can't score.... Sadly, we are for the drop. The opposition must piss themselves laughing when they see Church in our line-up. A forward who creates little or nothing for his team mates, can't hold the ball up, can't win anything in the air and has a shot weaker than my arthritic nan.
  • wow, how thigns change. we will stay up because we are getting better going forward. im looking forward to next season. i imagine we need to bring astrit on and play reza to have some pace. church belongs on the bench. sordell is improving. i would play 2 up top with a cam and some width with pace.

    sordell obika
    astrit
    harriot reza/wilson
    poyet
    wiggins morrison dervite cousins
    hamer
we should be pretty pacey with this formation and provide a threat. we should beat forest and then be close to safety. 4 more wins should do it. then if we beat forest only 3 more wins. we have some winnable fixtures.
  • To be honest, if we do not go down this season I do not think I can tolerate another season long struggle next year. We need a major overhaul, and I cannot see that coming.

For much of the season, we've been bad. Today it was very bad. But that doesn't mean it's all over, there's still lots more points to fight for. Remember the euphoria of Tuesday night, who's to say that it won't be the same next Tuesday? We've done it before, we can do it again. By all accounts Forest are no great shakes, three points there and things would look a lot healthier. Keep the faith.

Personally, I think the exact opposite. I'm pretty sure there will be a major overhaul in the summer and what's with all the negativity ? Burnley have only lost 3 all season. Even Leicester have lost 5. Burnley have a 10 point lead over the 3rd club.

  • We haven't been able to score all season. That was Powell's fault... Now we're going to see some tactical genius from the new head coach. Only question is: are you ready?

It took me a while to get my head clear but in time I came to the conclusion that this wasn't really a 3-0 kind of performance - we simply came up against a team with a strong defence and a striker in the form of his life, even without Ings to back him up. The penalty was dubious, the own goal very unlucky - it's our attack (well, lack of) that is the problem, not the defence.
  • It's still in our hands so to speak disappointed yes but I'm sure 99.9% of us didn't think we could get anything, the crowd was flat move on and keep hoping we can start scoring
  • Finally get shot of Green and we might have a chance of creating and scoring goals. Why can't the manager see it?! He has now had 3 consecutive shockers. Please make it stop.

I hope you are right, we shall see. As for negativity, as I have recognised on here before, the board are trying to clear up the previous mess, but they have made some major mistakes so far, ie player purchases and players going out.

    Incredible
  • Green is terrible. That first goal burnley scored he was just jogging behind there player that swung the cross in which led to the first goal. No dedication or passion

That was the straw that broke the camels back. That kind of performance will not be tolerated in our dressing room. I suggest he finds himself another club. Maybe someone like dartford or welling utd.
  • Trouble is, Green's appalling performances ARE being tolerated . . . . with a place in the starting line-up! Unbelievable and becoming totally unacceptable to me personally.
