When PP came on for the last few minutes of the game against Birmingham, I thought perhaps we would see more of him. Now I wonder if that was an instruction from RD to Chris Powell. Show off your new signing to your mug fans and then let him disappear. Believe me RD will get us relegated unless we get some new decent faces in before Thursday, but don't hold your breath!
I always like to see the U21's at least once a season and went today. It was at Tooting and Mitcham's ground near to Mitcham tram stop,so it was a new ground as well . Palace charged a fiver to get in. It reminded me of our old reserve games at Welling. Maybe we could go back to Park View Road for these games next year?
Palace fielded an experienced midfield trio of Barry Bannan, our former loan target Adlene Guedioura and Stuart O'Keefe as well as Scottish International Keeper Neil Alexander. The three midfielders showed their class and in my opinion were the difference between the sides as the game went on.
The score would have been worse but for Dillon Phillips . He made 4 or 5 excellent saves and looks a good prospect. Jordan Cook went off early and ominously Leon Cort left the field of play shortly before half time.I thought Harry Lennon captained the side well and looked good particularly when Cort was on ,although Terell Thomas was also sound. The two full backs Aaron Barnes and Leander Pyke are both inexperienced but were competent but didn't really offer anything going forward particularly as the left back Pyke looked to be right footed . I was surprised Cedric Evina did not feature.
We started well in both halfs and in the early exchanges Kadel Daniel and Harry Gerard impressed me going forward . Daniel seemed to be used as an inverted (left footed) right winger and Gerard seemed to tire and was substituted towards the end. Jack Munns was busy and skilful but his size meant he didn't make much of an impact. Danny Hollands started well but lost possession in a couple of key areas near the end.
Up front I am afraid Parzyzsek was woeful ,I was out of my seat when Jordan crossed and it literally was an open goal.
I was curious Anil Koc did not play .Is he in the squad tomorrow?
Thanks for the report, RJ. I had forgotten Danny Hollands is still on our wage bill. Wouldn't he do a job for Ujpest? Jena I must admit would be an insult to him.
It's a bit like sitting there worrying about how you're going to pay this month's mortgage, when the missus comes home with a new hair do and a BluRay player!
We needed a decent, Championship experienced striker to replace the decent one we had, and instead we got a new head coach, a lorry full of Senseballs™ and a reserve team bean pole!
Don't disagree with that - none of it is PP's fault though. It gets on my tits when we apply derogatory nicknames to any player still at the club, even if they've been terrible for years, but eff me, the lad's been here five mins, is not even old enough to drink in some parts of the world but he's already got the moniker 'Piss Poor Pete'. Great 'support' as usual.
Genuine question - where has this 700 k fee come from? The OS stated it as an undisclosed fee - how reliable is the source for the actual fee paid or is this one of those semi-credible rumours that quickly became a cold hard Charlton Life fact based on heresay alone?
Good source in my case, and probably different to @Covered End's source.
And you can scoff at @Jensenwasclass post above, but I'm struggling to explain the pattern of PP's first team appearances any other way.
Goals either side of half-time by Morgan Ferrier and Reise Allassani ensured Palace's development side chalked up their third straight victory to keep their hopes of a second-place finish alive.
Ferrier, currently a free agent on trial at the club, lashed home the rebound after Michael Chambers had seen a header saved minutes before half-time, and Allassani killed the game off with a late strike to see off their south London rivals with relative ease.
A quiet opening saw Neil Alexander tip over a Jordan Cook effort just three minutes in, and only grasscutters by Piotr Parzyzsek and Stuart O'Keefe troubled either goalkeeper in the opening exchanges.
However Palace settled and created another good chance just after the half-hour mark. Barry Bannan released Ferrier down the left and after he beat Aaron Barnes, Jerome Williams could only hit the ball straight at Dillon Phillips after receiving the striker's cutback.
A minute before taking the lead, the Eagles had given their opponents a warning when Adlene Guedioura rattled the woodwork. The Algerian was found on the edge of the box, and in the same movement turned a defender and curled the ball towards the top corner which Phillips did well to tip onto the inside of the post and watch fly away to safety.
But 60 seconds later the hosts were celebrating as Ferrier put them in front. Bannan dinked a free-kick into the box which was headed towards goal by Chambers, and after Phillips had pushed away that effort he was powerless to stop the trialist smashing home the loose ball.
Seconds after the restart the Addicks should have equalised when an unmarked Parzyzsek ballooned the ball over the bar from just four yards out after being picked out by Jordan, and Guedioura continued to show his quality as he attempted an audacious overhead kick that was well saved.
The visitors wasted another opportunity to draw level on 64 minutes when Jordan once again had room down the left and found Harry Gerard but he spooned the ball over, and Bannan could have wrapped the game up two minutes later when the Scot raced onto a ricochet which had bounced kindly into the Charlton half, and his attempted chip from 35 yards was fractions away from finding the net.
Gary Issott's side came even closer when Guedioura again forced Phillips to tip his shot from just outside the box onto the post for a second time, but they did find the killer goal 14 minutes from time. Kyle De Silva drifted into the area and found Reise Allassani, and he had time to take a touch and pick his spot to seal the victory.
A minute later Phillips again denied Guedioura a deserved goal when he pushed over his half-volley from point-blank range, and Alexander ensured his clean sheet stayed in tact with a low save from Harry Lennon as Issott's side continue to close in on a play-off place.
Palace: Alexander, Wynter, Jerome Williams, O'Keefe, Obileye, Chambers, Gray (Allassani 10), Guedioura, Ferrier (Croll 57), Bannan (G. Sow 86), De Silva Subs not used: Gregory, Tieku.
In terms of the Birmingham game, might it not have been more a case that he had only just joined and so there hadn't been much time to see him train and become aware of his 'limitations?
I still find it hard to believe that someone who seems to have scored goals, albeit at a lower level, hasn't got anything to offer. However, if both Powell and now Riga haven't used him then he is obviously not ready/good enough.
I don't really know what to make of all of this yet, I don't think most of us will until the start of next season once we know which division we're playing in and what the club has done in terms of player recruitment and we can make a more informed judgement on what that says about the ambition for the following season.
I see some foundation for the idea that Powell was forced out by being put in an untenable position re player selection but I also see evidence that would seem to contradict it.
Either way, like I've already said, none of it's Piotr's fault.

What I have heard about Koc is that he doesn't know why he's here, doesn't want to be here and hasn't been showing up when he's supposed to - which might just be gossip, but tallies with the fact he isn't playing. It doesn't suggest we'll be seeing him in the first team.
I heard from a good source within the club PP was upwards of £700k
All this look to the future re PP is a bit ridiculous considering our monetary position, it's not as if we're a Chelsea having a punt on a prospect The fact that two managers have blanked him shows that whoever is making RD's footballing decisions is a bit of a clown , which leads me on to Thuram €2m FFS did the same fella have a hand in burning that money?
this season was about the here and now and has previously been stated IF we go down it will have been totally unnecessary Pay Kermo the extra beans and there would be at least one striker we wouldn't be worried about starting rather than not wanting to start with any of them
Charlton side to play Palace U21s: Phillips, Barnes, Pyke, Hollands, Cort, Lennon, Munns, Gerard, Parzyzsek, Cook, Daniel.
Subs Afolabi, Thomas, Jordan
Polish Pete is awful, I think we have been sold a pup. Whoever scouted him wants stringing up.
Did you watch the game?
Im not being a dick, i just wondered if that is your assessment of him after seeing him in a game.
I didn't go today as I have prostate cancer and on Thursday I had my prostate removed. So am recovering and won't be going to any more games this season, which I am gutted about. I have watched him twice previously and he has been really poor. I watched Michael Smith last season in a number of games and he is a class above Parzyzsek. It is early days but I can only give an opinion on what I have seen. I notice Koc was not playing, does that mean he will be playing on Tuesday?
I get mine removed on May 8th. I hope you have a good recovery. Where did you go? I'm in at Guy's.

One of my best friends goes in to the Royal Marsden tomorrow for the same. That's three in my gang. The other two are very much alive and kicking.
Palace U21s 2-0 Charlton U21s: What Else Did You Expect?
Our U21 side enjoyed a well deserved 2-0 victory over South London rivals Charlton Athletic on Monday afternoon, taking their run of consecutive victories to three.
With the starting XI including first-team squad members Barry Bannan, Adlène Guedioura and Stuart O’Keefe, it may come as little surprise to you to hear that we played well, but the breakthrough didn’t arrive until just before half-time.
Following a free-kick that was flighted into the penalty area by Bannan, Michael Chambers managed to get a header in on goal, with the ‘keeper only managing to parry a save, trialist Morgan Ferrier hammered in the rebound.
The second half saw Charlton squander one or two opportunities to level before Reise Allassani sealed the victory in style for Palace with 14 minutes remaining.
With Kyle De Silva floating into the penalty area, he found Allassani in space, before the midfielder took a touch and slotted a shot past the Addicks ‘keeper.
Palace could have added further gloss to the score-line soon after, when Adlene Guedioura’s close-range half volley was impressively saved, but with the game well and truly out of Charlton’s reach, Gary Issott’s side cruised comfortably towards the final whistle to confirm a satisfying victory over our rivals.

I agree wholeheartedly with the rest of your post, BTW
