Millwall stewarding over the top

I undrstand stewards at football grounds have duties to make sure things are safe but when you start asking people to remove things from their pockets like keys and phones that is when it starts getting ridiculous. If you cannot tell what keys and phones feel like that is plain stupid.

What am I supposed to do? Go out with out a phone? Force myself to look for a phone box? Also go out with out keys? I'll leave my keys under the mat outside. Leaving it easier for someone to pinch my computer and telly and DVD player and hi-fi. Also they might take my car keys and take my car. Unbelievable!

  • They took your keys and phones off of you?
  • No they just wanted to see them. It's just the fact they couldn't tell what they felt like.

Made me laugh, on the way into the ground the steward stopped me and asked me if I was over 16 as they were searching anyone under the age of 16.
  • I've been searched at the last 2 away games. A full turn out pockets search. They said they knew I was from the Cray and it had to be done because "Roland said".

    Disgraceful.

    Dreadful, dreadful business.

What damage was caused ? I'd complain to Millwall.

PS Don't ever try and go abroad, you'll never come to terms, with what happens before you get on a plane.

You expect it at an airport though

You expect it at Millwall after we threw a smoke bomb and let off a flare, that just missed their young ball boy, last season.

If anyone is to blame, it's those responsible, not the stewards, having to stop them.

  • In Italy they take lighters from you, Peru they take your belts! They then leave them in a pile outside for collection, meaning people grab one then charge off around the stadium looking for opposition fans.

On more than one occasion in this country I've also had toilet roll removed from my person. Needless to say, I was both shocked and disgusted.

Why would someone asking to see your keys lead to you leaving them under your doormat? There really are some weird people on this site

Maybe the original poster should take his computer, dvd player, hi-fi and TV to the game with them - in that case if he is forced to leave his keys under the doormat at least he'd have peace of mind...
  • How many people remember the laces being taken from Dr Marten's boots by the police before you were allowed entry to a game? Late 1960's/early 1970's.
  • My 8yr old sons football team was on the pitch before the game waving flags and gave the players a guard of honour after the game I found the stewards supervisor who I explained that I needed to get out to get round and collect him, to which his response was tough your staying in and not his problem so I then started getting irate obviously so he called police over who threatened to arrest me for disturbance even after explaining to them I mean come on what trouble will me and my bird cause get real. I then found a second one out the back of the stand upon explaining to him was totally understanding and took us through a gate and door and let us out it was that easy.
  • who still has a hi-fi?

Turn up naked next time, that'll learn 'em...

...in case the police are reading this in a years time BA wishes to make it clear he in no way endorses or otherwise supports exhibitionism or other public indecency and is only suggesting an alternative to turning out the poster's pockets.

and no being let in with steel toe caps.
  • piss take smiffy that
  • Millwall stewarding post over the top
  • I thought they were ok. I told them what I had in my pockets (keys, empty wallet and a mobile) and asked them if they would like to see them, they replied no

QPR was worse as you had threes lines of stewards performing three different types of search. They then acted like t**ts inside the ground
  • I've really heard it all now!
Charlton Life? There's so much moaning on here it should be called Charlton Strife!

    Really?
Went to over 50 matches in Peru - never had anything taken off me or my friends.
Just enjoyed the beer girls running round the stadium selling beers.

But I tell you what, if they had asked to check my keys, I would have formed a supporters action group and had serious words with someone. anyone. Where would it lead?Would we all have to watch next season in the nude?
