It’s been a tough week.
Last weekend’s horrible performance then Powell’s sacking (coincidentally on my birthday!) was all before Jose Riga took charge against Huddersfield on Wednesday night.
A 0-0 draw wasn’t a disaster of a result but once again, the Addicks’ ineffective abilities in front of goal proved decisive.
If Riga wants to win over the fans, then Saturday’s fixture would be a perfect opportunity.
History isn’t on our side this weekend as the Addicks have only won 10 games against ‘that lot’ in their entire history (according to 11v11.com). In fact it’s been 18 years since we last beat them.
Despite all the circumstances off the pitch, a win Saturday will no doubt boost morale for the players and staff.
The Opposition Millwall struggled to really progress with West Ham United legend Steve Lomas in charge of the club and even with new boss Ian Holloway in charge; they haven’t really made substantial progress as yet.
A goal from ex-Addick Ricardo Fuller last Tuesday meant that Millwall edged ever closer to the drop-zone. In fact, Millwall are only two points above the relegation zone and a win for Charlton would mean Ian Holloway’s side would drop into the bottom three.
The Line –UpI think it’s safe to say that Jose’s (or Roland’s) selection on Wednesday night surprised a few people.
If it was Riga’s line-up then I think we can expect a similar side.
Once again though, the right-wing spot seems to be the problem. The experiment of Reza there didn’t seem to work, so Bradley Pritchard or Jordan Cousins may have a chance of starting there.
Polish Pete may be given a place on the bench as too might Marcus Tudgay as the duo didn’t feature at all on Wednesday night.
The truth of the matter is, that it’s a very hard call to make what the side will be, so I’ve drawn up two different sides depending on who picks them.
Jose’s side:
Hamer
Wilson Morrison Dervite Wiggins
Pritchard Poyet Jackson Harriott
Adjarevic
Sordell
Roland’s side:
Thuram
Nego Morrison Dervite Wiggins
Koc Cousins Poyet Ajdarevic
Reza Polish Pete
In all seriousness, I’d expect the first line-up to be more likely!
The PredictionGreat support from the Addicks, pointless loud MIIIIILLL chants and another bore draw. 0-0.

Locked in the ground for 45 mins
Swear I'll never go again but inevitably will when we are both in league one next season
However... IF just IF
In reality it will most likely be like our usual Millwall displays
Going to work instead
Feel a bit gutted now
Just got a good feeling about this game now?
anybody know if this fixture is being televised?
Seriously, if you look at who scored in that 0-2 defeat last season, they don't need good strikers to beat us.
I would be happy if we can just score this time
It has also been said that Alex Dyer picked the team on Wednesday and JR will be picking Saturdays team. Anyone who can pre-pick his team will be doing well, but I don't expect it to be much different from Hudders. Perhaps Cousins replacing Poyet, who looked tired, and someone different wide right. It must be difficult for him as he has only been here a week and according to another forum is really only here to run the academy from next season with a new head coach from next season.
