I was in a meeting all day yesterday so a bit out of the loop - I come out and the world seems to have fallen out of a lot of peoples arses.
Whilst I am a fan of Chris Powell and all he stands for I think maybe a change will do us good. The timing may not be ideal but time will tell on that score.
I am now cautiously optimistic for the future as we may see a change in direction with the way the team plays. Maybe a little more freedom, maybe a few more goals, maybe more entertainment, maybe a revolution - or maybe it could all go to shit. Time will tell. Whilst the players and staff were pretty quiet on twitter yesterday - the Sky footage seemed to show them fairly relaxed. At least one of the staff stated Jose Riga seemed a very nice bloke and spoke very good english.
Some of the threads and comments I have read are more than a little shameful to be honest. Some a bit OTT. Some plain daft. Some well thought out and considered. Isn't that what this is all about? - a game of opinions Maybe - but the new gaffer is the new gaffer and getting on his back isn't going to help in the slightest. Same for the players - whoever they may be. I dare say there will be a few boos tonight, a few chants for SCP and probably a few other songs but I really hope the players respond professionally, we as fans play our part and Huddersfield don't know what has hit them.
As for the club - well, maybe we are a victim of our own success. I'm referring to Valley Gold and our youth team. Our academy is clearly highly regarded but this new fella has worked at Aspire and AC Milan's academies. Thats some pretty good credentials. The fact Roland has gone on record stating we are seeking Cat 1 status means this fella might be excellent for the younger players in the squad and may take a different role in the summer within the academy. Again time will tell but it certainly seems our facilities and youth setup is a huge attraction and potentially a huge asset for the owner.
So maybe the future is bright. Maybe very bright. And now we wait and see.
Thanks for everything Chris, Alex and Damien and good luck in your respective futures.
Welcome to the club Jose and Karel - don't take it personally tonight but you are unlikely to get the "open arms" treatment
As for Roland - fair play - you've got balls!

We have to move forward now, thanks CP, you did a good job early on, but it is time to look ahead.
Good luck Jose, you had a good start last night without us playing, maybe he is a lucky manager/coach.
Long 6 weeks ahead, but with the support of us fans we have a great chance of staying up

Sadly I think Jose has been hung before a ball has been kicked.
I have reservations, of course I do. I am fully aware that the Great Duchatelet Experiment could go horribly wrong. But it could also revolutionise the way the club operates in the short and long term and leave us better off than we have been for a very long time. One whole season of RD's new look Charlton will tell us a lot more about where we are going than inheriting the Cockney Mob's mess ever would. Onwards and Upwards - and I think RD has that same aim.
Job done.
