Moving Forward - What Team Changes Would You Make?

Get Jordan Cousins back in the central midfield position , he didn't look comfortable in the right mid position , not convinced about Danny Green playing there either , can we get a right sided player in on loan if Solly is going to be out for the rest of the season?

Strikers , Simon Church ran his legs off today , not convinced of the partnership between him and Tudgay , didn't seem enough goal threat.

Astrit must be struggling for match fitness , but surely he's got to have a start on Wednesday night , maybe even put Poyet on the bench, how would you improve things?

The problem is we are perming any eleven from a squad who are just not up to it. The best midfield in the world can't cut it with no one up front Oh, and we havent got he best midfield in the world!

I would play Nego at right back with Wilson in right midfield. Poyet and cousins In the middle with Harriott left side. I'd play Jacko in the hole and put Sordell up front on his own with a firm message that he is playing for his career. He has at least got a modicum of talent but is just an idle git. That all won't work of course but it's the best I can manage from what we have to pick from. I've possibly jumped to too quick a judgement on Tudgay based on today but be hasn't played for eight clubs for no reason! (Apologies to him if I've got that wrong but I saw nothing today to offer any encouragement).
  • We've got a load of mediocre players so tbh I haven't got a clue what to do.

    Both of these
  • I'd move Tudgay wide right and play Astrid in the number 10 role. Have Reza up front on his own and play the ball on the deck.

    Hamer
    Wilson
    Morrison
    Cort
    Wiggins
    Tudgay
    Jackson
    Poyet
    Astrid
    Harriot
    Reza

Get Cousins back in central midfield before the little confidence he has left is destroyed completely.

Apart from that, could do with a talented run-through-walls forward with a proven scoring record.

    Oh.

I think we should just add 'WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN' to the bottom of our club crest and have done.
  • Simon Church is not the sort of player I want to dig out as I know how hard he works. However, he offers NOTHING. He chases a player after they have already gone past him, when he should really be using that energy to race the channels and be a bit more clever in his positioning. He is a League One player I have to say.

I'd have Reza in ahead of him. Though I don't think he is a world beater, he seems to have a bit more of a spark than Church. Thought Tudgay was OK.
  • My team for Wednesday would be :

    Hamer
    Nego morro wood wiggins
    Wilson cousins poyet astrit
    Church tudgay/polish pete
  • Hamer.

    Nego. Derive. Morro. Wiggins.

    Rezza. Poyet. Cousins. Astrict. Harriot

    Sordell

Pace out wide, skill with Astrit, tell Poyet and Cousins to pass forwards. Pace from Sordell.

Keep ball on deck. Jackson an impact sub, Same as Wilson.

Prob not enough but if we go down, do it trying to win, instead of trying not to lose.
  • My team would be:
    Reza
    Astrid
    LOAN Jacko Poyet. Wilson
    Wiggins Morro Dervite Cousins
    Hamer
  • Hamer
    Wilson Morro Dervite Wiggins
    Poyet
    Cousins Jackson
    Harriot/Astrit
    Reza Church
    4-1-2-1-2

  • Don't know but this thread says it all. We're lacking options across the pitch, need a right sided player (full back or winger) and could probably do with a proper target man.
  • Hamer
    Wilson Morrison Dervite Wiggins
    Cousins Poyet
    Church Astrid Reza
    Tudgay

Agree and despite most of us complaining about people playing out of position, just about every proposed team has at least one player out of position :-)
  • 4-3-1-2

    ...............................Hamer........................

    ...Wilson......Morro..................Wood.........Wiggins...

    ................Cousins....Poyet....Astrit...

    ...............................Jacko................

    ......................Reza...........Tudgay.....

We have no decent wingers so lets rely on the wing backs to create the width for us. Astrit to me seems the most likely of our CM's to pick the ball up and dribble towards goal, so to get the best out of him I think he should be CM rather than CAM. Jackson is probably our most likely to grab us some goals so surely playing behind Reza and Tudgay he's more likely to drift into a dangerous position and score.

  • A manager who coaches his team to get more than one shot on target each match might be a good place to start.
  • Unless there is an injury or personal situation then I think Pritchard should be back for Huddersfield. Yes he has been guff when he's played this year, but last year he handled the championship well and his engine was amazing. We NEED that player now, he came from non league, and a quality last 3rd of the season can make sure he doesn't end up back there.
  • Hamer is a excellent shot stopper but please sort your kicking out, was awful today

A Pritchard playing like last season really would solve the right midfield issue imho. This year, sadly, he's never looked like being that player.
  • Hamer

    Nego Morro Wood Wiggins

    Wilson Cousins Poyet Jacko

    Astrit

    Reza
  • Hamer

    Nego - Morrison - Dervite - Wiggins

    Poyet - Cousins

    Wilson - Ajdarevic - Jackson

    Ghoochannejhad

Subs: Phillips, Wood, Hughes, Pritchard, Harriott, Tudgay, Church

To be honest it feels like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Starting Nego isn't ideal (we all wish it was Solly), but at least we're balanced on both sides if the pitch and Wilson has the legs to get back and help when necessary.

  • Are people seriously suggesting Tudgay over Church?

Church isn't that strong, but apart from his effort some of his touches in the last few games, have been top class. And at least he's actually scored in other rounds of the cup. Cannot believe Tudgay stayed on the pitch. I'd be happy if I never saw him play again. Rather have played Sordell today. The most bizarre subs I've seen this season today. Not that good ones would probably have salvaged anything...
  • Bring in some players who move off the ball! too many times today Poyet would get the ball look up for a pass and see the "attacking" players stood still next to a red and white shirt. Not for the first time this season. Defiantly have to play Cousins in the middle for certain and desperately need one or two wingers.

Church is the proverbial headless chicken and only Reza makes the runs that a tier 2 striker needs to offer to our midfielders!
  • I'm a big fan of 352.

Yes, you rely on your wing backs to do a hell of a shift but Wiggins and Wilson are capable.
You can keep the extra man in the middle.
You're not limited to 1 up front
You have an extra defender to play a sweeper role and the other 2 cb's can man to man the oppos strikers.

    ------------Hamer------------
    -----Morrison Dervite Wood------
    Wilson Cousins Poyet Jackson Wiggins

Not sure who I'd have up top but you get the idea.

Cort to come back would improve the defence.
Poyet sitting back would be able to offer cover if Wilson/Wiggins are caught high up the pitch.

Only thing I would question is if Wiggins and Wilson could cope with the high stamina levels required twice a week, every week.
  • Get Darren Bent in on loan

4231 Cousins and Poyet at the base of midfield, Wilson right midfield with Anil K backing up. Astrid / Jackson centre midfield, Harriots / Jackson left midfield. Look at where Reza is playing and scoring for Iran, and slot him in.

Charlton should be playing Nego / Anil K, Pete the Pole, alongside Astrid and Reza. These are Rolands replacements & strengthening, lets see how good they are and whether they can cut it in English football.
  • This is the key issue now.
We have many mediocre players and some crap ones too.
What is your preferred starting 11 ? (leaving out Solly and Cort at the moment).

    Hamer
    Wilson
    Wiggins
    Morro
    Dervite
    Cousins (CM)
    Poyet (CM)
    Jackson(LM)
    AA (RM) ?
    Reza
    Harriot

  • 4-5-1/4-3-3.

    Hamer

    Wilson
    Morrison
    Dervite/Wood
    Wiggins

    Cousins
    Poyet
    AA

    Tudgay (RW)
    Reza
    Harriot (LW)
  • Polish Pete and Reza up front . They can't do any bloody worse than church sordell Tudgay
  • I'd sell Simon Church for glue.
