Credit them.....

After watching today, I must say I wasn't really expecting anything great. It turned out that they Sheffield Utd seemed better prepared, better organused, but I think more importantly they played withour fear, they looked far more comfortable, they looked like a team 'on a great run'
So I think, yes I am gutted about not getting to Wembley but I am sure 'if' we survive we will all 'forget' about today and think it was a 'nice little earner' for club!
And at the end of the day, they were far the better team today.
Onwards and hopefully upwards!!!

  • I credit them with wasting my time and money today
    Thank you charlton
  • We didn't turn up, found it very odd that a bunch of players who have never really played at new WEMBLEY just didn't want it. Didn't hassle. Didn't want the ball. No movement. All very bizarre and very disappointing. Ill get a bunch of Charlton players to lower me down into my grave when i die, just so they can let me down one more time ... Gutless
  • Deserved to win more than 2-0.
  • Deserved to win more than 2-0.

Agre they looked good passed well all looked hungry for it and deserved there win
Unlike the other sheffield team we played who made us look good and give us
False hope because they was so poor!

Not to worry as we can go to that other club and pick up three points now we are concentrating on the league :)
  • I hate to disagree but I thought United were very limited. We made them look good.
  • You can only play whats in front of you. United were not that good but much better than us.
I doubt their keeper will have quieter 94 minutes ever.

...........we make everyone look good this season. We are playing Brazil next Saturday.

  • they were shit. we were shitter

  • Come on fellas, we are all gutted (and admittedly I didn't shell out ) but today just showed our lack of confidence. This unfortunately is what happens in football, look at them, they really played without fear, this confidence. When you have had the season we have had a
  • We were pants and they were better.
    Not great, but better.

The only limited 'football' I saw today was played by them.
  • How can anyone say Sheffield utd were shit? Defended well and broke quickly, can't really ask for much more. As I said on the post match thread, I'm not surprised they have beaten better sides than us, as Villa, Fulham and Forest clearly are.

I didn't say they were shit. They were organised and did what they had to do to beat us. In all honesty they sat off us for most of the first half until they realised how poor we were. They struck me as being a decent mid table league 1 side. No more. We looked conference standard.
  • Christ all bloody mighty, the team that wanted to win, won today, our lot were totally shite, players and coaching staff hold your heads in shame. A once in a career opportunity has gone, please, please, please no excuses as supporters we we're let down, if you can not see that well..............
  • Would love to hear a statement from Roland. He owns the club and in my book, the buck stops with him. I want to hear what he is going to do to effect a change / turnaround of this depressing season. If he's not careful his plan to save £4m on his outlay, may just leave us in the third tier with a bunch of loan players / rejects that aren't worth jack.
  • They were quicker, more skilful, had better organisation and they played like they wanted it more. You would never have known we were a league above, and with performances like that, I suspect we won't be for much longer
  • I thought it was a horrible, spineless and unambitious display by us today - no belief going forward, no apparent desire to win the 50:50s - I'll be back of course, I always am, but right now I just want to disassociate myself from them
  • Firstly well done Sheff Utd. I was pretty impressed with them, and thought their support was noisy and great, Reckon they'll get to play offs and go up. BUT we were unbelieveably poor. I was seriously embarrased by our QUALITY. Don't believe as others that we weren't up for it. Effort should be a given. Our lack of quality, lack of investment, and piss poor tactical/positional set up made them look better than they were, Remember though that they have beaten better teams than us. Good luck in the Semi's
  • We never turn up for the big games or derbies anymore. Dreading Saturday now...

  • I thought United were very average but put an average team up against any team playing like we did yesterday , they will look world beaters.
  • Sheff utd not a great side but they wanted it more simple as that
  • Two of the biggest games so far this season was millwall at home and Sheffield Utd and we just simply weren't up for it and this comes from the manager! Sheffield Utd and millwall were both there for the taking but we weren't up for either game!
  • They were well-organised and had a system which the players obviously practice on the training pitch and it showed. What was interesting was that played like an away side, all behind the ball, letting us have possession and then breaking quickly and in numbers once they won the ball - shades of the Forest side of the 80s in which Clough played for his old Man.
Their fans obviously appreciate and understand this system and didn't get on their backs when they sat back and allowed us to have the ball.
Their right-winger was a handful and gave Wiggins a torrid time and the No. 5 made a couple of great Luiz-like surges forward...
  • I was actually disappointed with Utd yesterday. Definately there for the taking, but we were dog shit..............

A very good observation, this is how Clough has set the side up, all the comments about us being rubbish and there for the taking are wrong and wrote out of frustration with your own club, the fact is that we have a fast pace going forward but also defend in numbers. This is a well drilled tactic by NC which has turned our season around.

On another note, I genuinely hope Charlton do stay up and I am sure you will. I have visited the Valley twice and it is a proper football ground and in some respects reminds me of BDTBL.
