Remember the ending to this game all too vividly @AirmanBrown and at the time couldn't think for the life of me what Dunn was doing over by the corner flag whilst the corner was taken quickly leaving him marooned to watch the ball enter an unguarded net. Let's hope we get the rub of the green this Sunday, what goes round comes round :-)

Revenge is a dish best served cold ... but perhaps not that cold!

I remember it well. We played well that night and I think I am right in saying that Sheffield United were highly placed at the time in Division 1. I remember that goal because it left me feeling more gutted than more or less any goal against before or since. I can't explain why!
The 2nd replay was the first night away match that I went to outside of London, my dad drove up and on the way home he told me that supporting Charlton would be mostly disappointments with a rare few highs. He was pretty astute!
For the first replay at The Valley, I was working as a tray boy - walking around the pitch perimeter carrying a tray aand selling Wagon Wheels, crisps, etc to fans. It got me into the ground free, we got paid a small amount, and you could watch most of the game from close up. You used to have to come in and fill up your tray three or four times a game, and did it quickly so as not to miss the main part of the match. Before kick-off, I used to follow the team out from the main stand which was great fun! This game I remember. We scored while I was out "selling", and then later, I saw us score again. Late in the match Sheffield scored, but I said to a fan not to worry as we were still two-one up. No we aren't they said - it's 2-2! I had missed a goal while re-filling and had not heard even a murmur from the crowd to give me a clue. We always returned inside near the end of a game, to prevent the fans who ran onto the pitch at the end stealing our stuff, and for this game, as it went to extra time and I had "cashed up" by then, I was able to watch most of the rest of it stood up in the main stand. Shame we couldn't have only counted the goals I saw!
