Guys ‘n gals, Just for a change here’s another auction. This time it’s for a different good cause & one that you've all been waiting for...
There is finally some good news on the Pierre Bolangi Memorial Garden makeover! With the floods having receded at last, Fanny “Dimmock” & Richard “Titmarsh” ably assisted by young Rob Box from the Sparrows Lane ground staff, are pressing on with the revamp & the plot is now taking shape.
For those of you saw the Development Squad game on Monday 3rd March you will have seen how our project is developing. At this time of year, only those with NO gardening knowledge would expect to see a mass of blooms but suffice to say, there are shrubs in place to give some structure to the forthcoming perennials and the hedging should have been completed by that afternoon. These are the “bare bones” and indeed the most expensive components of the site. Indeed, the purchase of 100+ cheap daffodil bulbs might have shown their colours by now to add to the picture but alas, the waterlogged “pitch” prevented their planting until it was all too late. Now if we’d had a dome......
But where, you may ask, is the famous wall?
With plans afoot to resolve the problem, we were advised a week or two ago that this structure would not be approved at this time. It would appear that rumours of an overhaul of the Training Ground & the subsequent application to achieve Cat A status for the Academy have some substance – hence although plants can be moved, a wall would merely be a waste of money....
Which leads us nicely to the point of my rambling.
At this stage, the £250 donation by the Fans’ Forum is about to be swallowed up and additional funds will be required in order to complete the project satisfactorily. We hope to collect & pay for 16 additional photinia “Red Robin” shrubs for hedging purposes on Sunday but this will take the remainder of our budget. “ Titmarsh” and myself have donated some spring bedding plants & bulbs for some temporary containers whilst the garden is a work in progress so it’s time to put our cunning plan B into operation.
I was very fortunate to win the CL shirt sponsorship draw for JJ’s signed shirt in the promotion season & much as I love our Skip, feel this is the best way to find a good home for it.
The 2nd item for auction is a brand spanking new Bluetooth speaker kindly donated by our son- the one who works for Richer Sounds. It’s a Minx Go and retails at £99.95 but although I'm sure most of you will know what this is all about, I certainly don’t ! Feel free to Google though of course....
So, over to you & thanks.
Fanny F
Usual rules.
Only bid if you can and you intend to pay. I have to say that as we were "knocked" in the auction before last for £33 and it took more time and effort chasing one person who never had any intention to pay than the 99% who pay straight away.
Winner pays postage or collects from Fanny at a game. Postage with signature on delivery for a shirt is usually around £6 - £7 and with packaging another £0.75p - £1.00 so expect to pay £7.50. For the speaker I don't know but do factor postage in
Auction ends this Thursday 6th March at 5.00pm. Any bids after 4.59 pm won't count.
Lot A Signed shirt with football league badges and name. Signed by Johnnie Jackson
Lot B Brand new in box Bluetooth speaker from Richer Sounds. Minx Go model that retails at £99.95Happy bidding
