Our match at Wednesday and the Hull v Brighton match had to be played tonight so as not to clash with Champions Leugue matches tomorrow, due to a UEFA directive.
It seems that this rule does not apply to French clubs though:
Tue 25 Feb 2014 - Champions League
Zenit St Petersburg v Borussia Dortmund 17:00 GMT
...........meanwhile:
Tuesday, February 25, 2014
17:30 GMT Bordeaux v Lorient Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas

If the Bordeaux game is a league game then it does not contravene the UEFA directive as it is only cup matches that cannot be played on the same days0

Completely bizarre rule and one that needs reviewing. As if Brighton vs Hull or Sheff W v Charlton was going to have a major effect on audiences of Man Utd and Chelsea etc.0

If that's the case then we could simply swap matches. For example, Charlton could have brought forward this Saturday's league match to Wednesday and played Sheff Wed on Saturday instead. Therefore making the midweek game a league game and the Saturday game a cup game. This would seem ludicrous but that's only because the ruling is in itself. What difference does it make if it's a league or cup game?jaire said:If the Bordeaux game is a league game then it does not contravene the UEFA directive as it is only cup matches that cannot be played on the same days
By the way, Vannes are playing Strasbourg in the 'National' (Division 3) at the same time as Olympiakos v Manchester United tonight too.0 -
Nothing here about it only being cup matches:

Last week when Man City played in the champions league against Barcelona
there were three championship games on
Sheff Wed v Derby
Wigan v Barnsley
Yeovil v Watford
League matches OK - cup matches are not

Could just be FA Cup? Chesterfield vs Fleetwood played last Tuesday in the JPT, same night as Man City vs Barcelona.
UEFA must be fuming at how many viewers they lost0 -
Athletico v Real's turned into a really exciting game, being played at 100mph, feels like the last 20 mins of the second leg rather than the first half of the first.0
