After it went 1-1 I couldnt believe the panicking from some people...
Everyone needs to just calm down and let Powell do his job between now and the end of the season - Even his substitutions today were spot on because it helped run down the clock (and allowed us to take a booked player off without risk)... Unlike any of us he's more qualified to do the job he does so let him do it
great again i thought from powell. Hit them hard first 20 and got a goal out of it, they pegged us back and we shot up the other end and scored. Good tactics moving Harriott to the right near the end as most of our play came through the right hand side and 3 of their defenders were on yellows.
Would've brought on some fresh legs slightly earlier but no need to make big changes when you're leading and wouldve kept the last two for injury time as well.
Roland, were you watching - are you listening? Chris Powell is Mr Charlton, he may still make the odd baffling decision but his love for our club is undeniable.
Give him a new contract - before another club decides to.
It was clear that he was celebrating as much as us tonight. He has Charlton in his blood. When he moves on either sacked by an owner that doesn't see his value or to another bigger job, he will be missed beyond measure.
Powell said when he took over that he wants everyone to buy in to his philosophy of making Charlton bigger, better, fitter and stronger. Tonight with the overwhelming support for Powell after the game, i hope he is given the respect from RD that he deserves. He may not proclaim himself as 'the special one', but i doubt there are many Addicks tonight that don't view him as our special one. Powell has what it takes to make Charlton great again. If the players can't get enthused by having him as their boss, then they should walk out of the door and never return to our club. We may have put up with some heartache this season and more may still be around the corner, but tonight will live in my memory forever.
Some really do need to get a grip, do you really think any Charlton fan would be gutted to win two on the spin, please put the pie back in the fridge and just enjoy reaching the quarters of the cup. Get the pie back out at the end of the season and i would be happy to eat the lot if we manage to stay up.
This thread is unnecessary, oneupmanship. Whatever has been said on this forum over the past few weeks regarding Chris Powell in or Chris Powell out has been said from the heart from people who love CAFC with a passion (in 99% of cases anyway). Whichever side of the fence you are leaning there is no need to eat any humble pie.
Absurdistan - I usually like your posts but on this one I think you are out of order. Or is it what's called banter? (aka. wind up)
But like was was said above there would be loads of Powell out threads if we had lost? So you just want it your own way? Lose then pile on the venom... Win and no one is allowed to gloat. Ok I got it.
Another test for Powell coming up this weekend. We shall see. For now, Powell worshipers stand to the left, Powell outers to the right and let's see what pans out.
I've never wanted to see Powell go. However I have had the occasional moan that he has been too negative with his subs and he hasn't played Harriot nearly enough this season. On both points I now feel vindicated after the last couple of games in which he has been spot on. I hope Harriot now stays in the team, his speed, trickery and shooting ability will be vital.
There is a very valid reason for threads like this. Katrien Meire, or someone working for her is patrolling this and other forums on a regular basis. That of course does not mean she will act impulsively on what she reads here, but she will regard it as part of her job to take the temperature. Of course she will.

Its not even a question of people "gloating" its just a question of people (like I have in other threads) pointing out that Powell has been in charge of a basket case for 18 months.
You can't run a club in the Championship with no funding and that's what we have been doing since Cash pulled the pin, the playing squad - through no fault of Powell's - has gone BACKWARDS since last season! What did people expect, the Play Offs?
Now we are seeing that with things finally settled behind the scenes and some re-inforcements like Astrit arriving that the corner is being turned - although we are not home and dry yet by any means.
Look at Millwall, they sacked the manager and are they any better off now?
You simply do not throw a club legend like Chris Powell onto the scrap heap, we have had more than enough of the "Stick The Tail On The Donkey" management merry-go-round since Curbs left in 2006 - we really don't want to go down that path again.
Leave out the gloating please. It just stokes up bad feeling.
Gloating?
You make it sound as though you are disappointed we won! Or are you a Sheffield Wednesday fan in which case my apologies but this is a domestic matter.
Great picture of Powell hanging from the woodwork on the front page of The Guardian sports section today. It's not online unfortunately. The headline reads: Cup Fever - Charlton Raise The Bar.
Lets just hope the 2 game winning streak doesn't burst. Powell has always been fortunate enough to be able to get good results particularly after a poor run. Long may it continue. I'll have mash with that pie. COYR

A god to me
