Marcus Tudgay arrived at the Valley last Friday on a loan deal until the end of the season from Nottingham Forest. He made his debut for the Addicks in Saturday's 1-0 victory over QPR when he replaced Reza Ghoochannejhad in the 64th minute.

Marcus Tudgay:
Age- 31
Place of Birth-Shoreham-by-Sea, England
Height- 5ft 10in
Playing Position- Forward/Winger

Background:
Tudgay started his career at Derby County where he made 90+ appearances for the Rams, scoring eighteen times with his final Derby goal came against Sheffield Wednesday who he subsequently joined in January 2006.

The loanee played over 200 games for the Owls and scored over 50 times before moving to Nottingham Forest initially on loan before sealing a permanent deal in January 2011.

Despite three years at the club, Tudgay only played just over 50 games for Forest but also had two loans spells at Barnsley where he scored a total of four goals in fourteen matches at Oakwell.

Style of Play:
Judging by a few YouTube clips and the odd bits and pieces supplied by fans, I have gathered that Tudgay is a very hard working striker. Despite his height, he appears to be decent in the air and also has a good turn of pace.

His preferred position appears to be upfront but he can cover on the wings which has been a position that Charlton have lacked in this season.

What they say (Quotes from Twitter-all Forest fans):
“Always was a big fan of Tudgay. Thanks for effort, goals and contribution.”
“Tudds was always a quality player for us.”
“Personally thought he was great for us.”
“Always gave 110% when playing for us.”

Overall:
The signing of Tudgay could prove to be very valuable by Chris Powell and after a decent cameo at the weekend, I’m pretty confident that Marcus can help us survive relegation.

He is unavailable for the trip to his old club Sheffield Wednesday on Monday night which is a shame, but with a busy schedule approaching in the next couple of months, Tudgay will certainly help our squad in depth.

Welcome Marcus and best of luck for the season.
