Had a bit of a practice yesterday, seeing as I don't kick a football very often. Managed all on my own to get a hard-fought 2-2 draw against my eight-year-old niece and six-year-old nephew on a pitch about the size of the six yard box at The Valley. Watch on 22 May, that's all I'll say...

I must get out there and start training! I think a few of you boys would be able to help us girls out with a few training sessions before the match!
Mx
Thanks but I think we will need more than 2 minutes!! ;-)
I wont love
Now there's a surprise!
Sometimes I'm very glad I live in Glasgow...!
I train twice a day - down the Bugle before a home match and down the Oak afterwards.
Perhaps a kick about over Blackheath Common (and onto pub of course) would be a good idea? Barts could get an idea of a few player's standards then in an effort to get balanced teams.

Sounds like a great idea - could help out the like of me that needs all the practice I can get!!
Anyone else up for this idea??
Mx
sco thats a great idea man, could be worth thinking about, perhaps we could just do the pub bit tho!!
There's a field over the back of Charlton House/Village that would do. Check the weather out first of course.
Proper jumpers for goalposts affair!
If anyone is interested, even if they aren't playing in the main matches, chuck your name down here. As I say - just a kick about, nothing mental.
But on the otherhand the season only finishes a week before the match.
Oh god - now I'm dreading ever saying I would play! ;-)

dont worry maria, you'll be fine, i am a girl too (even with beard) so you wont be alone!!
At this rate I'll look like Arnie by May 22nd.
As long as Arnie puts on 10 stone and ages by fifty years in a month that is! :-(
lol, you just reminded me, I had Dr`s appointment last week, and while I was in the surgery I mentioned the slight a pain in the groin area, the Dr said you`ve "tweaked your groin" and then added with snide laugh, at your age "a tweak in that area should be appreciated " I felt like smacking him in the mouth. : )
important thing to remember is quite a few people, like myself, will go into this after a long period of doing nothing. The important thing to remember is to ease yourself back into excercise. GO into it too hard and you're likely to lead yourself back to square one very quickly. Everyone has seven weeks still if you're using the charity game to sort yourself out, so ease your way in and gradually pick up the intensity over the weeks.
Guess I'm just going to have to rely on the Tuesday night 5-a-sides to get my match practice!
Mind you I'd probably still be up for an hours kick around on a saturday or sunday morning if somebody is arranging anything
What do you get if you accidentally on purpose hit the ref in the bullseye?
would you call 15 years of doing nothing a long period of time? I did ease into training gently, I started back in january by watching back to back recordings of Aerobics oz style! but the wife put a stop to that, then went on to crosstrainer workout, a bit of jogging which nearly killed the knees, now in april I`m doing weights & (sort of playing) a small sided game once a week, my weight is now down to a personal best for ages, from about 14st 10lbs to 13st 4lbs if only I could turn back the years. ; )
I'd better get started then.
Dear diary:
Monday: Thought about getting fit for the BIG match, 7 weeks to go.
Tuesday: Nearly left somebody's birthday doughnuts alone. Only had 2 tho'
Wednesday:
