  • my only source is Jonathan Akworth
  • Someone said to me today they'd spoken to a Qpr fan about him , and said he'd lost his pace , i guess we'll find out soon enough , but has anyone else seen him play recently?
  • If he's like the current QPR first eleven, then he can stay in west london
  • He's better than a Green, he's better than Green! Half of North London are better than Green!

  • Certainly being touted as done barring some "minor loose ends" on lesser Charlton forums.
  • Pretty confident that Powell wouldn't play him if he was up for it. Sure he won't be like he was at City but even without his pace he should have a reasonable amount of quality for where we are at the moment, especially when the current competition is Danny Green.
  • At least SWP has a footballing brain. Something that Green (amongst other things) is sadly lacking.
  • Powell is a stickler for the managerial etiquette rule book, and I've never once heard him mention another managers players name in a press interview before. The fact he did for SWP kind of told you it was much more likely than unlikely IMO.
  • I hope he comes in, as i hate to have a go at one of our own but i really don't wanna see much more of Danny Green in a Charlton shirt, when he signed i was convinced he was going to be a hero, i even predicted to just about everyone that he would win player of the year easily just after he signed, good luck in the rest of his career, just not here im praying.

True. But CP also mentioned Jonny Williams from Palace. Could we possibly be getting them both and would we need them both? They both play RM no??
  • Now we all know why green was released in the first place all those years ago someone back then realised he was not the finished article and he still is not do yes let's give SWP a go
  • Harriot looked like last season's player today - albeit in a short cameo. I'd take last season's Harriot over SWP - but it won't hurt to have him as long as he has to earn his place in thet eam.

Thought Williams was left-sided and central midfielder.................
  • Who's this swp fella? Any good?

I'd argue its the complete opposite. SWP made it on his pace, but didnt have a footballing brain. Greeny has got a footballing brain, but no skill, pace or anything to back it with.
  • Greeny has a footballing brain if football and golf shared the same rules I suppose.
  • Charlton and big name has-been players rarely go well together.

Oh I don't know Dave, Jimmy Floyd certainly filled the shirt well.

    A right winger needed majorly!!!

    This
  • I think he is a decent option to have on the bench - I wouldn't start him but he can sometimes make things happen when he comes on so is a useful member of the squad.

I'd be happy with SWP as an option on the bench. I know there's no Solly anytime soon but I'd happily start with Wilson at RM if we can cover RB with the French lad Loic Nego

Ricardo Fuller - which might make your point.

He defo ain't got a footballing brain. Takes up bad positions all the time . In the promotion season away to Bournemouth I remember us playing the ball up towards Yann on the right in the air , four times he won it and four times Green was nowhere to be seen for the flick on. Everyone in the crowd was shouting this at him and in the end Yann had to pull him up and point it out to him in quite forceful terms.

Two years down the line and he's still just as bad.
  • If SWP comes in its because wilson will be RB for the rest of the season,

there is a bigger question here and only SHG has mentioned it

our CM pairing yesterday was superb , JJ on the left is the only place JJ can play imo, Tudgay can play RM and Forward,
AA is the boss of this all where does he play ,

    SWP goes into RM

but we have a wealth of CM talent that moves into RM to allow AA to play, adding to that spot with a pure winger gives us great balance but means powell has reduced option to fit in AA, JC, JJ, DP

    who says mgmt. is easy
