    A little worried??
  • I was told last Saturday that he could be back this week, but whether they will risk him who knows.
  • Was being kind to the young fella
He probally didn't want to come to England?
And brave n tough though only keeper to wear a short sleve shirt sat!
  • Let me get this straight, your worried that Hamer isn't in goal??!! That's is a new one!
  • Wendies should use plenty of crosses on Saturday - could be a nervous afternoon. Hamer would be better without a doubt.

What is people problem with Thuram as far as I can see he looks decent
  • I must admit to finding the punching, rather than catching, a bit nerve racking. As I understand that is prevalent amongst European keepers?

Come on did anyone see Thuram's kicking Saturday it was awful. People were laughing at him every time there was a goal kick around me by half time. He seems okay at shot stopping but his kicking WOW and he doesn't look to comfortable catching a ball which is quite important for a GK IMO.

Enough of his toilet habits, is he a shotstopper?

If you'd been at Wigan Paulie, you'd be a understand my concerns.

He brought a new meaning to the term "Flappy Bird"

I think if Ben Roberts can convert him to catch a ball rather than punch it he could be useful.... but me thinks he prefers the punch and won't change. Thuram that is not Hamer.

Would much prefer Hamer back at the moment.
  • Thuram did about 2 dodgy kicks that I can remember. Alnick's wasnt much better. One of our best ever keepers (DEANO) was even worse.

England is also in Europe...just saying. Seriously though, I cant' stand this generlisation that all European keepers punch. Two of the best European keepers of the last 20 years have been Buffon and Cech and they catch most things, especially Buffon and that's why he's the best.
  • Always worry when i see a keeper in Britain playing in short sleeved shirts.

This. Thuram actually managed to keep the ball in play most of the time, unlike Hamer who seems to want to kick to the opposition dugout every single time.

Am a little concerned over the punching though. Would prefer him to catch.

  • Does Thuram punch more than Hamer?

Most european keepers punch and if you have a strong punch sometimes its better than risking catching and missing,
and from what I have seen his punching looks strong

But 'Flappy Bird' has been cancelled......
  • Thuram looks good if he doesn't have any crosses to deal with , we were bombarded at Wigan and he's lucky that from his weak punches that went no distance there was no one to punish him
i'm sure he nearly punched one into his own net when trying to block a shot from an angle at his near post
  • go on to wigans laticsplayer and they have slightly different highlights from ours and you'll see a couple of weak punches(although the commentator said one of em was good) but the other punch was horrendous

  • Cure his punching and he will be a good keeper. He came to collect the ball well and made two excellent one on one saves.
  • A couple of my mates were at Wigan and they both said he was hopeless. Must admit that he didn't look anywhere near as bad v Birmingham as i was expecting.

I've seen all three matches Thuram has played in and the marks I allocarted in the players marks threads afterwards were Boro 5.5, Wigan 3 and Birmingham 5. Now I'm not a hard marker but fair and rarely mark lower than 4 but he was truly awful at Wigan as @oohaahmortimer has already highlighted with his punching and reluctance to dominate his box when the shells were coming in late in the game. Against Birmingham he was little tested and made a couple of decent one on one stops which he also did at Boro and for which I commended him.

However it is not all about his lack of catching / poor punching / poor kicking, it is as much about the bond he has with and confidence he instills in his other defenders and this is sadly lacking at present IMO. As I have said previously I really do hope he comes good for all our sakes if Hamer's injury keeps recurring.

Really? U do t know what match you were at ? His kicking was good a couple went astray but his kicking was better than Hamers and Deanos!
  • I want to see Hamer back between the sticks when he's fit. Hopefully like Thuram he'll be instructed to play it out from the back and refrain from the old 'hoof' to Yann tactics. The lad has great potential and I want see him full fill it over the next few seasons
  • Am in Belgium at the moment...liege cab driver I met on tues was telling me how lucky we are to have Thuram....(I won't post what he said about Roland...it wasn't too complimentary....)....

You cant say something like that and not tell us
  • he saves too many with his legs as well , the one on one i recall in the first half against brum he came out with his legs, i'd rather he used his hands and gathered the ball

i know sometimes he has to use his legs but it's too much with Thuram

In piss poor weather conditions, and kicking a moving ball off a muddy bog with barely a blade of grass in sight, i wouldn't say his kicking was that bad. I've seen a lot worse
  • Hamer out for few weeks and everyone forgets how poor he was before Alnwick came in.
