We must of saw this coming...poor season

I'm sure that when we did not strengthen in the Summer (i.e quality), we must of realised this was going to be a struggle.
Our best players (you may disagree) have not been the same;
With loads of injuries and being found out;
Solly- injured most of season
Kermorgant- injured, now on the bench for the cherries
Jackson- not same player after injury
Harriots- what happened!!
Pritchard- been found out
Hamer- injured
Cort- injured
Gower- who??
Button- gone
Wiggins- injured
Stephens- gone

Players who have filled the positions;

Wood- okay
Church- runs around all game, with nothing at the end
Sordell-no comment
Evina-League two player
Green- League two player
Dervite- what does he do???
Stewart- good, but gone
Alnwick-good, but gone
Piggot- not championship
Poyet- looks good

New signings, too early to say.

Is it Powell? or has he been unlucky!!!

    You have missed Haynes, Fuller and Waggy and to a lesser extent Obika, Kerkar (although no replacement to date) and BWP. The first three are as crucial difference to our form last year and this as the injuries.
  • Not even mystic meg could predict what happens at Charlton, we are a very unique club, always a roller coaster ride.
  • As I've said before I expected a struggle, which is why I don't think 5 league wins is as bad as it sounds. It's 2/3 wins from where I expected to be.
  • Yes I expected a poor season finishing around 15th but no way did i expect it to be this bad!
  • Not as much of a struggle as basic English apparently.................
  • Chrissy Powell warned at the outset that it was going to be a very tough season, and that was before the avalanche of injuries and exits.
  • "must've' or "must have"
  • I was confident last summer. Don't get me wrong, i wasnt thinking playoffs but i was hoping to be safe midtable after our strong run at the back end of last season.

    The only worry i had in the summer was who our game changer would be this season. Last year we had Fuller coming off the bench and his added quality and experience helped us win games. We didnt replace him and still havent.
  • Odds on relegation :(

  • I knew it was going to be an unnecessary struggle when I saw Gower alongside Hughes against Bournemouth first game.

    We must have seen this coming.

    I'm sitting my inspectors exam for the spelling police next week..............;-)
  • No mention of Smith, never given a chance in the league even with other strikers firing blanks.
  • Well let's ask this.

    If RD and co took over in the summer would we be in a much better position?
  • its Harriott by the way

    Not very surprised as it looks roughly more like an upside down version of the current league table......
  • Welcome to the board btw @kentcrusader
  • the reason for the "must of SAW this coming" was the team has been sawn in two, one good season the other poor (I'm trying to be clever!!)

    Don't its lost on us lot :-)

  • Think that's harsh on Dervite, think he is a decent centre half. Definitely 'brings something'.

  • I think there's some duplication there but on the left wing we had Kerkar then Harriott in form... then Stewart in on loan ... now?
    Up front was the real issue with no Fuller and no Hulse loan cover when Kermorgant was injured / recovering
    And no loan cover for Solly / Wiggins

    Still think we can turn it around but it needs to be this month

    And the odds look fair - I think it's 50:50 right now whether we pull out of this mess
