Anyone confident for Saturday?

  • If Nego is more of a right winger then yeah would swap him and Wilson around. Really dont want to see Cousins or any other centre midfielder wasted out there.
  • 3-5-2…stop them from playing and play AA in a free role, then i would fancy us.
  • Poyet and Cousins absolutely should not be playing on Saturday. If they are to contribute fully to the rest of the league season, they should be rested from the FA Cup distraction.
  • posted this on another thread but more suited to this one

Thuram / Hamer, with Phillips cover

Back 4 with Solly out and if Wiggins also out, then it has to be Nego RB his natural position - Morro / Wood RCB - Lennon LCB his best position - Fox LB his natural position

Midfield Poyet Cousins with AA and Wilson/Harriot and Brad Jordan on bench with …?

Up front Gucci PP Church... take your pick
Diamond shape midfield 4 1 3 2 line up with AA in behind PP Reza playing a free role

I think this team would get a result

I'm more hopeful than confident. Positive ball the same though.

  • Anyone confident? Yes, the Wednesday fans.

Can't remember the last time I wanted to beat a team that wasn't Millwall or Palace this badly.

    Thuram
    Nego
Wiggins if fit, if not fox.
    Morrison
    Wood
    AA/Harriot LW
    Wilson RW
    Poyet
    Cousins
    Parzyszek
    Reza

Yeah like that team but maybe nego right mid. And Wilson rb
While we're at it, might as well swap the two strikers with cousins and poyet.

Expecting a draw to add to the fixtures that are starting to pile up.

    This would be my team

    ---------Hamer?---------

    --Dervite Morrison Wood--

    -Wilson Cousins Poyet Jackson-

    ----------AA----------

    ---------Reza PP---------
  • To win we need to score...therein lies the problem.
  • I'm going with 2-1 us. They will score first then reza to equalise and Pete the pole last minute winner.

How the hell is that the same when nego is know for playing right mid and atleast we know Wilson can defend where as we're not sure about nego !
    Ridiculous snipe !
  • They are on a good run and we are on a crap run. Something's gotta change soon. I'm pretty confident as long as Powell picks the right team with Pete and Reza up top and a balanced midfield of AA Cousins Poyet and Wilson with Nego at RB. Then I think we'd have a decent chance.
  • 3-5-2 has to be the formation for saturday
  • Hope to see the two new men up front starting together, with AA sitting in behind. If we actually started to pose any kind of threat then my confidence would improve greatly. Even if we lose 4-2 on Sat i'll be happier than losing 1-0
  • Despite everything I reckon this is a winnable game for us; 2-1 to us against an over-confident Wednesday.

  • An irrelevant distraction.

What if our top striker gets injured in this fixture? What then?

How can you think like that? It's the FA Cup - it's not irrelevant. Why don't we just not enter a team every year if thats the case.
We are 1 win from the quarters - which would see us get prize money and the next game on TV so extra money again and above all else winning breeds confidence!!
Two games from Wembley - if Millwall can do it why not us.
I didn't see Manchester united wanting out of one of the cups in 99 cos it was a distraction or irrelevant.
Simply put winning is a good habbit no matter what competition it happens in.
Of course we might lose but thats football.
  • Quite excited for this one considering. If I was Chris Powell my team talk would go something like this - 'right lads, no pressure today, if we lose oh well so just go out and have fun. Ignore me and play football like you're twelve again with no fear. Shit, play fly goalie if you want , just have a laugh. Cos it's back to reality next time and we can go back to our usual gameplay'.

Either way, I plan to have a good day regardless, enjoy a couple of shandies and if it goes tits up then at least I'll be home for eight o'clock.
  • Absolutely not.
  • I wasn't very confident in the previous round. Football is almost so unpredicatble that it is predictable!
  • I was confident after the 4th round win and the draw for the 5th, now not so much.

Im just gonna be really gutted if we lose to them, as if we go out to a top or any Premier team then it is disappointing but expected.

Much worse to get to this stage and lose to a beatable team in my opinion, as we are 2 games from a trip to Wembley.

Please lads, we may be out of luck in the league at the moment but lets have some more of that cup magic.

  • Expect nothing and you will be seldom disappointed.

A proper Charlton comment, never get up or down about any result as the the next one could be better or worse. ;)

    Unless it's the same...
  • Loved it last time with JJ's winner. I am really confident. The pitch will suit Reza and astrid and anyone else for that matter and he will be given a chance to shine. With a half decent away support this could be a really good day out; they're full of themselves are Wednesday and this is a chance to really shut them up. Hope its dry and we make a lot of noise. They're firm favourites and we do well in these situations. Its also a chance to bed in the new players for the league. Go for it Charlton.
  • Reckon we'll smash it 3-0, said OP...

If we are going by our run of luck I tend to agree with the Massives. However football is a funny old game Saint, a funny old game...
  • Luckily we are playing the midgets, 3-0 away win. COYR's.
  • After having Leeds advance travel tickets, thinking they were wasted, then we get pulled out against Wednesday,
as they were salvaged because of this it is absolutely nailed on we will win Saturday
  • I am but I'm not going to the game and its both Mrs and youngest's Birthday so big family meal out.
  • Think Poyet will be rested. Also think we will Piotr and Reza up front. Powell won't want a draw so will hopefully go shit our bust.

to be honest I reckon we will get done 2 or 3 nil.

My only worry is how my wrecked knee is going to hold up. Was hoping to be rid of my crutches by now (8 days and counting) but no chance of that at the moment.

Hopefully I can go and don't end up burning the train fare.
  • Reckon we could go for a 1-0 again. Pack the midfield

How many games has Poyet played to need a rest?
