Fifteen minutes. That's how long this thread took to go from an interesting and direct, open letter to the owner, to the vacuous repetition of moans about the Manager. Well done Charlton.
So what? It's a football forum, people will have a difference if opinion. If you want to hear what you want start "ChizzForum" with only you as a member. Although I would be careful when you google it. ;o)
I suspect we may all be preaching to the converted.
Whilst Duchatelet may be able to handle relegation, both financially and emotionally, it's highly unlikely that he'd prefer it to remaining in the Championship. Moreover, based on the evidence of the "Meet the Board" video alone, we can be confident that he understands that the squad needs to be strengthened if we are to survive.
That's not the issue. The issue is finding the right players, as Chris Powell himself said last week. The fact is that players that are both good enough to improve our current First XI and who are surplus to immediate requirements at their current Clubs, don't grow on trees. Moreover, there are other Clubs out there looking for them. It won't be easy. I'd bet that if there is a Cameron Stewart clone out there we'd snap him up. We're not likely to do much better than that, but where is this player?
We need to keep our fingers crossed that the right players are available.
I think that's the point, we are not the only ones looking for quality players in the loan period.
Moreover, the broader point is that "proven Championship players" as another poster put it are not going to be available anyway!
What are available are the over-the-hill merchants (like Gower) or the unproven youngsters (like Stewart) - you are not going to get too many players in their prime joining a relegation battle.
This is why we will probably get rookie PL loanees in, they are desperate for the experience (as are their clubs) but they are unproven.
Is it? I'm not sure there's a 4M difference in profit/loss between the leagues. Revenue maybe, but that's irrelevant.
It's debatable over one season and probably depends, I guess, on your contractual commitments, which in our case aren't much. However, nobody can say relegation is for one season and if you spend to get out you are widening the gap. That's the problem.
Well a Dear Roland letter isn't going to do the job is it now. Getting the team motivated and organised would be a start and unless I am mistaken we are only 2 points off 21st position with a game in hand over you know who. Yes 'man up' sounds a good plan to me.

If we were to sign players on loan from the network with the other club fronting 100% wages is the gap widening though?
Just to be different, I recognise that Roland is a very clever business man. I also recognise that decisions taken in a hurry will often make the situation worse. I am therefore going to be patient and let the management manage.
Yer like the ones Birmingham had Saturday, Macheda and Huws.
Macheda was on loan at Doncaster, scored 3 in 15.
In fact, the bloke has only scored 10 goals in senior football in the last six seasons.
As for Huws, the game on Saturday was only his second start in the Championship, before that he'd played 7 games on loan in L2.
We'll probably bring in something similar but from south-eastern clubs.
That's the difference though Ormy, 'probably'.
The other clubs have already done it. They are a month ahead in terms of integrating and getting them match fit.
Play down the two players above but the fact remains they both had a huge impact in determining the outcome of a relatively tight game. That outcome takes Brum 9 points away from us when what could easily have been a victory would have brought the gap to within one game.
We were pretty well where we are before Rolland brought us. The team needed major changes before he bought us. CP was tactically poor before he brought us. We had very little hope of new signings before he brought us.
I thought our new players looked very promising and believe that it will take a few games for them to gel. Any points before the 30th game are a bonus as far as I am concerned.
Stop blaming a man who has run our team for a few weeks for a situation that has taken years to develop.
Incidentally wish CP would stop playing Green and work on his substitutions - You can practically set your watch by us conceding a goal very soon after he has made changes. He also has a strange faith in poor players ( Danny Green) and why bring on a Church?.
CP needs to buck up in some areas ( and I think he should stay!)

True, but my point is that neither are "proven" Championship players, neither has actually played much professional football at all, despite Macheda having a 'name' for himself.
Both players are gambles for Brum as would any player be with so few games under their belt.
My point was that in the loan market you are going to get - for the most part - old stagers or young bucks, there won't be that much in between - especially when you're struggling.

You might be able to evade FFP rules doing that and it might be a more efficient use of overall resources, since you can only have 11 players on the pitch for each club at any one time, but the wages will still be flowing out from your business regardless. Showing the cost somewhere else doesn't change the fact it has to be funded.
We need two or three top quality loans in NOW. It's already been said that they don't grow on trees but they are out there. We need to be looking to the premier league and top end of the championship for any cast offs not getting regular football. How will we afford them I hear you say? Whilst not offering them exuberant wages to start with ,we offer them a lucrative bonus should their endeavors keep us in the league. In my opinion it's the only way of getting them in and actually seeing them do a bit for the cause. It would by far and away offset the financial catastrophe we would inherit should the 'R' word become a reality. As for the players we already have on low contracts, they should be promised new deals if they are involved in our survival. All a bit Arry Redknapp I know. But needs must. The uncertainty and negativity around the club and most definitely the dressing room are not doing us any favours. It's time to act.

Charlton are very likely to be relegated in 3 months time, unless you get in at least 3 loan players, that are BETTER than we already have.
So far, you haven't strengthened an already weak squad, as you have sold our best forward, best midfield player and best goalkeeper.
No doubt the reasons were financial, but from a football perspective, this is desperate.
I have supported Charlton for over 40 years and have little doubt, that we are doomed unless you act NOW.
Anyway, I'm quite certain Chris Powell has told you what we need.
Please give our manager, players and fans a break. We all deserve it.
We have won 5 games, drawn 9 and lost 14 so far. 24 points from 28 games.
To stay up we probably need to achieve 26 points from 18 games.
Are you with us or against us ?
Please tell me you never actually posted this rubbish? How feeble do you make the club look. We need to man up and fight for survival.. Not beg!
Sorry, what exactly does your manning up "look like" & please explain how this will keep us in The Championship ?
I feel it's a better attitude than moaning and whining - ALL of us need some belief, the rest of this season will be very difficult. You either accept your lot, or do something about it. The players and coaching staff need to choose wisely!
