The Run In - Again

well,i keep looking at the table every 15 minutes or so,just in case it's changed or something.but with our away form still quite poor - one away win in about 5 years.it's home wins that will have to keep us up.this will be just as true for everyone though.

charlton: reading,sheffield utd,spurs.

sheff utd: newcastle,west ham,watford,wigan.

wigan: bolton,spurs,west ham,boro.

with our performance on saturday and with one game less than the others, ours just look harder.

oh,i don't think i will be able to sleep till the end of the season!

  • i thought a month ago there were going to be so many twists and turns still and i stand by that. The important thing to maintain is that although we've had a decent run, it hasn't done anything for else but got us back near contention. We're still in a precarious position, a relegation position, and we can't keep looking at runs we're on, momentum etc because the minute we do that will be the minute we slip up.

We have to continue to take every game at a time, and continue to treat every game as a cup final. All we can allow the last few games to do is to approach the next one thinking its a winnable cup final.

Hard to maintain caution when you're on a good run, but it can bite us on the ass so quickly and turn the other way if we give anything short of 100%, and that goes for the positive vibes given by the fans as well.
  • West ham winning games at last does us a favour. I think it's too late for them to stay up but them winning means they'll go to wigan and sheff utd with a slim chance so will give it a go instead of already being down.
  • i still don't think its too late for west ham
  • I'm not ruling out Boro, Fulham or Villa being dragged right into this. Sheff Utd are at least playing teams fighting for their lives and WestHam may yet do us a favour. Sheff U v Wigan last game will have something on it for one or both.
  • Imagine if we overtake someone like Sheffield or wigan but then west ham overtake us. Aaaaaaaggggghhhhh!!
I think they'll need to beat 1 from either Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd plus all their other games to have a chance. Can't see it but who knows.
  • I said a couple of weeks ago that Villa could drop like a stone. I still think that Man City have a very tough run in so they're the team to catch.
  • A couple of weeks ago I was worried we were going to run out of games. Now it looks like there are too many!! Wigan play Sheff U on last day of season - if we can be two points ahead of both of them by then, we're safe.

My big worry now is the manager of the month for March as someone else mentioned - surely Fergie must get it? Not Pardew, please...
  • As I've said all the time as long as we're 17th and no lower when the final whistle goes at Liverpool we'll be ok.
  • what if sheff u and wigan both need a point on the last day?
was it germany and austria in 1982 world cup that played out 0-0 draw, daring to venture into oppositions half.

That's why we need to be two points clear of them both...

    villa's home games : wigan,pompey,sheff utd.

    no sleep!
  • All the above is very interesting but don't forget that Watford still also have a massive role to play in this. They still have to play Boro, Blades and City in their last seven games. We need them to battle like they have done all season and maybe pick up a couple of draws.
