AFKA point taken mate but i dont think they guy would recognise his own name !
month ago he walks up to me in the Lib and says "we have had it unless we get rid of the Iluminarty (sic) and all the commies" WTF !!! now his second point obviously i 100% agree with. Then he comes back and says "the horses are ok" --- i say "had a win up then ?" ---him " no i got custody of them" WTF ?
The above is true and i know others were having similar weird conversations with him.
Yesterday the Masons were after him --- i kid you not ! and he kept walking (as in colliding) into people in the Lib .
DFT mate sorry to say he is one of your old crowd.
This is why the stewards should have got him out of the situation pissed or not now the blokes got his face rearranged coz they never acted fast enough. I bet the only steward that was around was the usual one that looks like screech from saved by the bell and he's pointless
Jokes aside - which I admit I've chuckled at, it's actually a really nasty situation for all concerned.
For those who witnessed it - I'm going to assume it wasn't very nice. I'm hardly easily offended, and I can look after myself generally - but I can't say I ever feel comfortable after seeing anything violent. So I hope those who had young kids or vulnerable relatives with them are OK and aren't put off the overall "match day experience" - that said, if they're currently coping OK with what's they're witnessing on the pitch then I dare say they have strong stomachs..
The guy who lost his cool - sounds like it may have been an understandable reaction; not a good one - but an understandable one none the less. Tension often runs high at the valley at the moment, without situations like this. Hopefully he'll have a talking too, perhaps a warning that it's not appropriate but wont be facing the usual ban for "football violence".
As for the individual who got the pasting - sounds like he needs help more than anything, as even if he hadn't bumped in to that particular chap who took a bit of a dislike to him - I'm sure someone else would've ended up doing the deed. He certainly sounds like a 'character' and I'm sure you'll have more than a few stories after having a conversation with him - but ultimately that guy needs a helping hand. I hope he's not too badly hurt.
This particular incident aside though, it's always a shame when you hear about stuff like this going on at football matches - especially at a club as close to your heart as Charlton. I would expect the stewards to be better prepared for circumstances like this, as sadly they are to be expected at times. Up to 27,000 people, all riled up with different emotions, all from different walks of life and different backgrounds - a large majority of them drinking a little too much... It doesn't take a genius to see that things can happen.
It's seemingly a common occurrence to hear negative things about our stewards now - generally being rough and overenthusiastic when it's not required, but being spineless and/or disinterested on other occasions. Perhaps this is something the club should address now; as this situation has acted as a clear reminder that there is a minority/majority of them who aren't very good at their jobs unfortunately.
It's why stewards need and deserve proper training. From what has been written here, the guy has mental health issues. Probably not serious ones, and certainly nothing that would prevent him playing a part in society, but in an environment where blokes, booze and passion are running high, not the best environment. A good steward will spot that and know how to best diffuse the situation by taking the bloke to one side and finding a way to take him back to his seat. And if not everyone can be trained to that level, one or two should.
Big tear up in G Block in the East when someone four rows in front of me spilled some Oxtail Soup from their Thermos onto the tartan rug of the geezer next to him. Thought it was going to really kick off, but things calmed down a bit after the Stewards picked up the culprits inhaler.
Those Belmarsh lads certainly make the matchday experience a little bit safer.
Not an easy situation for a steward to be fair. I done the job for a few seasons during our exile up until 96 (it got in the way of watching the game;-)). Unless the guy has actually caused a problem, what can they do? Try to evict someone who's only crime is had a few too many and before you know it, you're being hassled by all his mates (and anyone else standing by who find it amusing to have a pop at a steward) thus creating a situation, instead of preventing one. Of course, if approached by others complaining, keep an eye on him and eject him at the first sign of trouble.
If the club were to enforce a policy of ejecting those deemed to drunk, maybe that's more an issue for instructing the turnstile operators to turn anyone away they feel has had a skin full, or have stewards posted outside of the turnstiles to spot any potential problem makers. Would cause much less of an issue IMO.........................
The "easy" solution would be to have 'Terms and Conditions of Entry' on the ticket like they do here in the States. Violation leads to immediate expulsion from the ground. It's been awhile since I was at The Valley but I seem to remember that all that was said on my ticket was: "We reserve the right to refuse admission. It is an offence to bring alcohol into the ground. Offenders will be prosecuted" -- Nothing about one's conduct inside the ground. Has this changed?

At the time I thought the bloke got exactly what he deserved but looking back now he is clearly a mental case.
He knocked about 6 of us flying with his giant army bag, including the bloke who threw punches kids.
Kept coming back for more and calling the bloke out, who just snapped. Had to stop him from really giving the bloke a kick in while he was down.
Then some other busy knob that didn't see what happened before it all started calling for the bloke to be arrested and was pointin out people that weren't even involved.
It's definitely the same bloke GH as I do remember him mentioning 'illuminati'
Then when they were patching him up about 4 or 5 women were standing there explaining to the OB that the bloke was being offensive to everyone including kids in their block during the 1st half.
If a black eye stops him from coming back to the valley then it's not such a bad thing.
In the north upper after half time a fella walked up the steps with a half empty pint (or maybe half full depending on what kind of supporter you are) , he then walked back down and along and there was no sign of any stewards . Then two lads come and stand on the steps halfway up watching the match.
Both times I looked around to see what the stewards would do and there were none anywhere.
I have known this guy for many years and in the light of day he will be embarrased by what he has done.
I have seen the most righteous of people over the years do the most silly things when they have had a drink and i am one of them.
He has been a Charlton fan all his life and been to all the games that have mattered over the years...
He has had some tough times recently and needs a break. Please give him one.
Chippy mate, I think most of us have said it's obvious he's going through some kind of tough time - and that hopefully things work out for him! I hope it's only his ego that's injured - and he gets a break and manages to sort things out.
Never a good thing to hear about, and as someone said above - He's an addick.

I hope the bloke sorts himself out because if he goes around abusing people like that on a regular basis he will end up it a worse state than Saturday.
I'm not being horrible, I actually mean that. It's not nice seeing a bloke covered in blood, especially when another Charlton fan is the cause.

It's been and gone now, sounds like someone whether boozed or not provoked the wrong person. Let's leave it there.
