Don't feel part of this.....

edited April 2007 in General Charlton
Its amazing the run we're on at the moment, and its great to see the feelgood factor return, but there is a very sad fan here that feels there is a party going on he's not invited to. If the great escape does occur, it won't be with me on board and its sickening me.

The truth is, since the return in 1992, the amount of league games i have missed in that period until recently could be countable on just one hand. A Garry Nelson hat-trick, a 6-1 demolition by Leeds, and the Spurs classic last season are three of those. The last couple of years we're largely turgid affairs as well.

Now circumstances have recently dictated i had to miss the West Ham game, probably the biggest game at the Valley since the Ipswich play off 2nd leg, and the crucial home win against Wigan.

Though despondent to miss out, this has been largely bearable until this morning. However, a quick check of the calendar for my next enforced jaunt overseas will snow ee me missing the Sheff U home game, the last saturday home game of the season. Three home games out of four. Three of the biggest home games the club has seen in years.

Not only am i absolutely gutted, i feel a fraud. Though my absence seems to be bringing luck so far, i do not feel i'm in any position to discuss all things Charlton with fellow fans. How can i justifiably issue rallying cries ??

The Valley will not be seeing me on a Saturday from 3rd of Feb (home v Chelsea) to sometime in August.

Where do i go from here ? Should i be punished, or permenantly excluded ??

  • Stay away from all the remaining games mate. You can claim all the glory on the 22nd May instead.
  • I was stuck in Northampton on Saturday, absolutely excrutiating as I had to follow the match via text commentary on my phone. Bloody good service but so nerve racking and 5 minutes behind real time.

I knew something had happened because of all the texts I received, but I refused to check them till the commentary had finished.

Shit happens AFKA and the league dicking about with kick off times doesn't help, but the next few are on the box, so at least you'll get to see the action.

As for me, all being well that should be the only game I'll miss this season.
  • shocking - absolutely shocking - glory boy or what LOL.

Don't worry about it - Ihaven't been to an away league game since Fulham last season a proper away game for me league wise - I can't remember. Doesn't make me fell less part of it.
  • go to all the away games?
  • AFKA - Please don't come anywhere near the Valley until 22nd May!

Cause if you are the reason for our sudden run of form then I will gladly bribe you with a few beers on 22nd to stay away!!!

    ;-)

one that don't like football obviously. Don't think I've got any mates that don't like football, it's a prerequisite with me.
