  • About time. :-) Things are looking up
  • So does this mean we wont have to listen to Emma etc any more?

If so might sign up again.

Correct. The guys are replacing the BBC commentators on player. This really is a move forward for the team and alot of work has gone into this. Peter Finch deserves much praise.
Really pleased about this, will resign.
  • Every time I have heard our own in house people commentate they have done very well, like that game away in Cardiff at the end of last season, or the FA Youth cup in Nottingham. Very very good news indeed, and a match thread dilemma for me!
  • Great news, added bonus for tomorrow.
  • Good news.
Any idea what was the outcome of 'the Supporters Survey'?

  • Bloody good news this, was going to cancel as can't be dealing with Emmas waffle anymore.

    And here too.
  • I might rejoin player as I cancelled because the service was just a waste of money and I got just as much from the updates.

  • Great news. Hope this delivers the improved commentary we're all looking for.

Will have to set my alarm clock 30 mins earlier but this could be a night and day improvement in the coverage.

Well done and thanks to all involved for listening to the feedback and doing something constructive about it.
  • Looking forward to doing the match thread off the superior commentary....well done Pete F and the gang for pulling this off!!
  • Fantastic news, sounds great !
  • this shows that the management are listening to the fans and trying to improve things, well done and good luck to Peter F and his team
  • Good news, I will try and tune in again having avoided player due to Emma's waffling.
  • A LOT better today. Pwapa Charlton
  • Thought today was excellent from the commentary perspective on Player.......well done to Pete F Terry Smith and the gang

in complete agreement, well done chaps
  • Really pleased you enjoyed it today, completely new thing for us, with the pre match show and post match, any feedback welcome.
  • Pete, - well done - very good for first shot.
One thing - which in the end resulted in me switching off the MDL was that there were a lot of times of buffering and losing the cast. This resulted in the commentary being a long way behind the actual play, and the 'forward' button didnt seem to work nor refreshing. This meant that at 1 stage you were in 70th minute but BBC was in 75th.
not sure if its my problem, but something you might want to ask techies.
    Otherwise, very good.

Had an appointment at 10 am mountain time so couldn't listen to the whole show ( Birmingham scored their second just as I left the house so tbh didn't really want to hear the post match stuff anyway!). But it was 1000% better than we've been forced to get used to in the past.

The pre match show in particular was very nice as hearing the atmosphere build in the background and listening to the boys chat about what may be in store made me feel much closer to the action. The commentary was much better too, there was still a little bit of humour and scene setting, but the focus was very much on describing the action, as it should be, and done with some genuine passion too.

Hopefully the team will be able to commentate on a win sooner rather than later.
  • I had given up listening to Player and was going to cancel but yesterday was so much better. It was a bit odd having the Charlton commentary coming out of the TV whilst watching Chelsea v Newcastle (all from the computer connection to the big screen TV) but if this is the standard for the foreseeable future then I'll have to get used to it.

Thanks guys and it definitely improved the matchday experience for us absentees.

  • Loved it. Actual description of the game. Did hurt my hands though. However - buffering. Basically it.
  • Really enjoyed it(other then the result) listened from the start until just before Lee Clark was about to start his post match press conference.

Im certainly signed up to player for the rest of this season on the back of this new initiative.
  • thank god , I hope the beeb get the hint that woman is terrible at commentary
