Biggest month in charltons recent history?

Clearly as a club we have had numerous up and downs and as a 24 year old I was not around/old enough to support the club when we were going through the more serious issues like recievership and not having a ground. I started supporting the club aged 9, so in the years just before our promotion, and this month is as big a month as I can remember - my mind may have permenantly erased some of the months in the prem relegation season when we went from beating whufc 4-0 to getting relegated instead of them.

Tensions inside and outside the club are clearly strained with powell and rd having to get to know each other, each with their own visions for the club and supports unsure as to how they feel about rd and recent player incomings and outgoings...one thing is for sure, this is a massive month!

Home games against against a beatable birmingham and the preverbial 6 pointer against barnsley are nothing short of massive games for the club with a mouthwatering FA cup game away to sheffield sandwiched in the middle. I can see this month going one of two ways:

1) We get the nessesary league points in those two games (6), plus a lucky point agaisnt qpr and go through in the cup, pitted against a prem side in the next round ensuring a nice pay day to help with our struggling coffers. This would bring a new found confidence in the ownership for the fans, improve relations between rd and scp (assuming they are strained) and put the club in a strong position to avoid relegation and enjoy their best cup run in years. On a month like that I can only see the club using the momentum to go from strength to strength.

1) The club do not get the necessary points from those two games (0/1/2), get battered by qpr and go out the cup. This would leave the club in dissaray with fans on the boards back for decision made in Jan (re jan incomings and outgoings), further strain relations between rd and powell - while also adding to the growing number that do not believe powell can cut it. I think it would put the club in a position of no return when it comes to relegation and put us back on a downward spiral similar to that we endured post curbs.

Obviously there are other permeatations to this month however knowing charlton its going to be boom or bust - i just hope its boom!

  • No getting away from it, it is a huge month.

If we can beat Wednesday, and pick up 4 or 6 points against Barnsley and Birmingham it will have been a bloody good month. COYR
  • March looks like a scary month so lets hope we get some points on the board this month
