Let's celebrate the good news.

I am sick to the teeth of reading depressing threads. Yesterday our Youth team went to Premiership (at all levels) Southampton, and beat them 3-1 in the FA Youth Cup. Yes of course I hate the current situation at the Club, But these youngsters are our future, and combined with other Academies in our Group (because that is what we are becoming) they represent our only route back to the Premiership. Paul Hart and your team, you are doing a fantastic job. Come On Young Reds, Arsenal next.

  • Needs to be good news Grandpa because at this rate they will beplaying Wigan on Saturday
  • Well said, our Club will survive kermy leaving.
    Onwards and upwards

  • We have had this silver lining for a while now. Very proud of the academy. Let's hope we don't lose them to random parts of the RD empire.
  • Spot on. It's been a shite week but the youngsters have done us proud, and deserve better than to be hidden behind Doncaster and Yann.
  • Watched it on saints youtube account, played really well, some lovely bits of inter play. It seems (having seen Cousins composure on the ball in the first team) that we are looking to breed footballers who are comfortable on the ball but also don't mind mucking in and getting their hands dirty!

Yup massive Congratulations to the Youth Academy... Once again they're doing the name Charlton Athletic proud.

Just remember lads that although you've got Arsenal in the next round I wouldn't suggest any of you doing a Kasey Palmer!! - Keep working hard, be patient, listen to your coaches and if your good enough you will follow Jordan Cousins / Joe Pigott / Diego Poyet and Harry Lennon in the first team
  • After going up to Doncaster on Tuesday night to watch a Charlton side basically give up and not want to compete it was a pleasure to watch the academy boys play so well against a well respected Southampton youth team. I was impressed with the way we played and how ALL of our players were comfortable on the ball. We are very lucky to have Paul Hart and his fellow academy coaches at our football club.
  • Bringing in Paul Hart seems like a fantastic move.

Great result though none of the good ones will be playing in a Charlton shirt in three years time.
  • Really enjoyed watching this last night. Well done Paul Hart and all the lads. 'Reasons to be cheerful..1 2 3' by Ian drury, let's hope 2 and 3 to follow.

we have a bit of an advantage over the rest of his empire in that English players do not travel, mostly due to the language issue, but also because they struggle with a cultural change, innit.
  • Does anyone know the date of the next round against Arsenal and whether it will be played at The Valley?
