We were in for him the summer before Powell left and it got very close to happening apparently (mate is a director at Stevenage). Very similar to lawrie Wilson was how he described freeman - e.g looked good in league 1 (for them at least) but wouldn't cut the mustard for a side looking for more than just survival in the champ. Apparently was too inconsistent and at the time, too light weight to compete in that attacking midfield role. Still, he's certainly the type of player we need to make things happen - questionable whether the network could provide someone of a much better standard.
