  • Man Utd can relax, Ars*nal smashing half a dozen past Spurs next weekend will take the focus off them for at least a week.
  • Poch out John boy already

Not from me mate but from reading the boards and speaking to a few who were there yesterday, the natives are restless. You dont expect a manager to implement his style of football overnight but one shot on target in two games? Alarm bells are beginning to ring all of a sudden. Can expect nothing but a hammering this coming weekend in the NLD and it'll be what we deserve.
  • Mate I am hearing it already all around me, there is always the fans that didn't want him but I can't believe how quick you lot are to wanting him gone, he needs a win a quickly
  • Their manager hid in the dugout during the shootout what a bottle job.

Did he think he might get hit by a stray ball ;)
  • Still one of the biggest clubs in the world.

  • League cup doesn't matter I guess?
  • Grim result....I love seeing United get beat especially by a league 2 team.....Football is a simple game but Amorim overthinks it.....can't see him lasting too much longer

Since Fergie Time, Manure have been a joke, like a lost child with an endless line of hopeless managers, the club is poisoned from the top down. The New stadium looks like a circus top,  at least they have a troop of clowns fully fit and ready to perform and the ring master....Sir Jimmy Radcliffe is clueless.
A once great club reduced to a pathetic joke.

  • They looked a lot like we did against Cambridge - totally disjointed, inept at the back and devoid of passing quality.  At least we had a load of kids out
  • I have a serious dislike for United which was probably ingrained in me because of 20+ years of them winning under Ferguson, so i'm delighted they stumble from one mess to another, but i do kind of feel a bit sorry for Amorim.

When the owners hired him they knew what formation and system he played and you'd assume he told them he wouldn't change that. In his system probably the three most important players are the wing backs and the DM. Yet in two transfer windows since he joined United have bought a young LWB from a struggling Italian team and they haven't bought a RWB or DM. So he hasn't been helped at all there.

They badly need a new goalkeeper, haven't bought one, badly need a world class DM, haven't bought one, badly need a RWB, haven't bought one. They had a perfectly capable number 10 in Bruno, but they're now having to play him deeper where he's ineffective because they've signed Cunha and Mbeumo. One of them signing would've been enough, they didn't need both. Mbuemo (to me anyway) was an unnecessary signing as he's generally a wide attacker and now needs to play inside a lot..........where they already had Bruno.

They should've signed Donnarumma, 2 world class wing backs, a world class DM and Cunha. 5 players required and they've got 1. Their entire transfer plan has been a total mess.
I’d like to know what really good sides have won anything playing 5 at the back .  Discounting league one play off finals

Probably Conte at Juventus and Chelsea.
Alonso also played a variation of that formation (he set up 3-4-3 but it was wingbacks) in the season Leverkusen won the double.

I think they reached a point some time ago where there is too much pressure on them. Nobody has time to sort out the problems so they are constantly trying to fix them before working out what they are. I don't think they are going to put any manager in there and expect an instant turn around. They have to have a manager they trust and give him time and no pressure if he initially fails. That is maybe too big an ask for a club like theirs.

I wonder if Jones took the senior players off to save them some of the humiliation.

Apart from Busby building, losing and then rebuilding a team, and Ferguson of course, United were nearly always a mid to top half first tier side - there was a 26 year gap between Busby winning the league and Ferguson winning his first, with a relegation in that time also. I've always thought of Ferguson as a blessing and a curse for them and they are now back to where they were before Fergie.
    Long may it last!
Long may it last? We’ve been able to rely on them to beat Palarse and Millwall in 3 Cup finals - unlike bloody City.

    Again!
  • Grimsby away, Grimsby, let that sink in, it’s true what they say, there’s always someone worse off than you!
  • I actually don’t have a hatred for Utd, I do think they are by far the biggest club in the UK but they are in a desperate state as nothing is working for them, not big signings and not respected managers. The sight of Amorim with that magnetic board, sitting in the dugout during the penalties and his bizarre interview on Sky indicates he’s lost it. I think the pressure weighs very heavy at that club. I have no idea what they do next and that is a recurring problem for them.
  • As I said on the Carabao thread, the longer Man U and other ‘bigger’ teams are in decline, the longer Palace will prosper.
