I can now here a womans voice. I fear we will all be stuck with Emma, oh dearie me!
If Peter Finch is there, can he be twitted in advance to encourage Emma to stay on task?
oops, a crackle then silence. A connection is out I reckon.

@Sethplum Pete F is not there today he is away on hols.....dont know who's commentating today but Emma is at QPR
  • More confirmation -: Got bit of clarification on Thuram starting. Ben Hamer rolled his ankle at end of week while Ben Alnwick was ill last night. #cafc
  • Song for Thuram

To the Pink Panther theme tune.

    Altogether now:

Thuram, Thuram, Thuram, Thuram, Thuram etc

OK, I'd better get my coat
  • @Sethplum.....yeah its died for me as well....this could be a long afternoon!!
  • OK. It is not Emma, it is Vicky Sparks from BBC Newcastle, with Marco Gabbiadini as the expert.

He will need no introductions to Upton park Charlton veterans such as me.

That's pretty good. Easy to learn!
  • It hasn't died apparently, Vicky is talking to radio Kent, the bloke at the BBC says it is all under control.
    Oh we're back.
  • Mystic Afka sees an isolated and frustrated Frenchman appearing up front for Charlton Nil
  • Ok.
Looks like we're good to go.
Hope the communication will be good.
  • Maybe we signed a keeper due to injuries? Doesn't always have to be a conspiracy.

  • IF the reasons for the Alnwick/Hamer absences are true, then bringing Thuram in doesn't look such a bad move.

Bit if a coincidink that both of our 'keepers have become ill and/or injured just days after our new owner brings a new one in.

I think one would of been on the bench, fact we have an 19 year old on the bench does seem to back it up. Also nice to see Harriott in the side and Cook getting a start after impressing at Ipswich

  • They are playing Gangnam Style.
    Only just released in Middlesborough
  • This smacks of a hastily put together team. The keeper will have no understanding with the centre backs - I hope he speaks English. Kermorgant has no real support and has been dropping deep in recent games anyway. Cook and Jacko don't have the pace to get up and beyond him for his knock-downs and flick-ons, and if Harriott comes inside, who is going to get down the outside & get in a cross or two? Asking the full backs to get into the last third in an away match is a gamble. The Boro defence will not have to worry too much about us getting in behind them.

I'll settle for a nil-nil. Maybe try and get to the hour mark and bring on a second forward. This could be similar to Burnley away. I hope not. COYR
  • Well that's solved the keeper problem. Can imagine Thuram either having a blinder or a nightmare debut.

Disappointed Smith isn't there. Happily put Pigott in after a good pre-season, Smith has a very good loan spell and can't make the bench. Guess Powell wants Ajdarevic and Green on the bench but wants Hughes there as defensive midfield cover.
  • To my ‘orse,
    To my ‘orse,
    Sayin’ goodbye to my ‘orse,
And as I was sayin’ goodbye to my ‘orse,
    SAYIN’ GOODBYE TO MY ‘ORSE
  • Probably been mentioned somewhere on this thread but no Adomah for Boro.
  • IF the reasons for the Alnwick/Hamer absences are true, then bringing Thuram in doesn't look such a bad move.

Even with Thuram starting, young Phillips has had to be named for the bench - our 5th choice keeper.

Imagine if we'd been in this situation at Xmas, with only Alnwick and Pope - and Alnwick being unwell ?

Pope would have had to start, with Phillips on the bench.

I reckon this is definitely Powell's tactic... Get to 60mins (or at least half-time) with the scores level and then he may go a bit more attacking... If at this stage we're 1-0 up then its gonna be a similar scenario to the Blackburn / Birmingham (even Ipswich how they played against us at the Valley) sort of match

  • Having to start Jordan Cook is a bit meh, hope he has a stormer.

could hamer and alnwick be refusing to play due to thuram being bought in! maybe?

    I like the conspiracy theory!
  • 15 mins till ko......apologies up front for typos and spelling mistakes..........COYR's

I think I would have put Evina wide left and JJ on the bench

no need you do a great job keeping us all updated red

  • Thuram to get sent off early doors and we need to get an emergency loan keeper in for Oxford

Solly out again is a concern
  • Assuming its as follows:

    Thuram

    Wilson Morrison Wood Wiggins

    Cousins Jackson

    Cook Stephens Harriott

    Kermorgant

Anyone else have more of an idea how this team's going to line up?
  • Checking in from Calif. It's going to be tough today. 4-5-1, flood the midfield with Yann up front. We'll see. No Solly is disappointing. His injury must still be there. It'll be interesting to so how Thuram does.

Yeah, especially as he was not said to have had a good game last time out.
  • I suppose Cook will be up for it being an ex-Sunderland lad
