3 Years In Charge!

3 years to the day today since SCP took charge and it has to be said that they are some of the best years as a Charlton supporter that I can remember! (I'm a lil'un compared to most of you though!) From the 4 straight wins at the start of his spell, to the unforgettable promotion season to the Championship and the recent couple of years have been some of my favourite, and include some of my favourite moments. Here's to hoping that he'll be in charge for a good while yet, and give us more great moments (and results!) to remember when we're Premiership champions all thanks to him ;)

  • It's certainly been 'interesting'
  • 3 years and we're not in the prem yet?!!

    powell out!

He couldn't even achieve your lowly ambitions. I was going to call for him to be sacked if we hadn't won the prem last season!
  • 11th longest serving manager in the country now!
  • My favourite moment so far ? Halftime in the first Doncaster game when one man suddenly appeared with a little roller, soon to be followed by five men with forks. The only thing missing was Monty Pythons Flying Circus.
  • done a great job and has overachieved. if he can get some quality he could bring us to the prem. he knows how to get a squad promoted already and the mentality needed for it. he coud be the new curbs at this rate.

    Too right Jack!
He deserves a shot at improving the squad over the summer and getting us to the top 6, winning the play-offs.
Longest serving manager in the division and one of three managers in my 42 years of following CAFC who has brought class, stability and performance.

  • bloke needs to have a word with himself. Sat all the way through the first half on the advertising hordings without any animation or as if he had a care in the world. Should have been shouting at all & sundry and taken Pritch off after 30 mins.

loved him as a player and I know he cares for the club - but just think he is too nice a guy.

  • Promotion at Carlisle and his emotional interview up there.
  • Wish he could get them to start better, especially at home. Were a much better second half team under Powell.

It's funny, I always felt the same under Curbs. Is it as simple as second half they get a lift from attacking the covered end? Don't get to many away games but we didn't't seem to start as slowly in the ones I have seen.

Ah ......that must be the difference between a poor manager and a good one.
To be fair Oggy it looks as the words at HT did the trick so its not as barmy as it sounds. If he had said a few of the things from the touch line we might have won the game instead of waiting until HT
  • He's one of the best things about our club.
Here's to many more happy times at the helm, Chris...
  • Absolutely agree that in the dressing room, a manager should let rip anyway he chooses, Mike. And in seems that CP did just that at HT.

But there's nothing more ridiculous to see than a manager losing the plot and his dignity on the touchline during the game.

Anyway, normally Dyer does the bawling at players from the dugout.

This. Every time I read one of his quotes, it does fill me with a sense of pride, that we have a manager who genuinely cares, not just about his players, but about the club and us, its supporters. There's no other man I'd want in charge. But likewise there's no other man I'd like to see get to the very summit of his new profession. Sadly I don't see that being with us.

  • Give him some doe not many team have a real legend at the helm, he built a team to win league 1 now needs the funds to build for an assault on the prem, sir Chris follow believe

Agree with the above wholeheartedly. Chris Powell has done a sterling job with the resources available to him. Surely he's earned the opportunity to show what he can do when given the chance to strengthen the squad (something that he hasn't been able to do for a long time now).

  • He'a proved what he can do when he's fully supported and through the recent tough times I've never felt any real danger of going down. Last season I actually thought we may creep a play off place. He's only going to get better, just hope those years are with us.
