Had a day out with my boy's team yesterday, went training at Everton's Finch Farm and then to the game.
Was quite comfortable watching Barry, Baines et al give Norwich a lesson in a quiet and complacent Goodison when all of a sudden I was taken back in time to being bored silly watching us lose 2-0 in Salford the season we went down.
I remember thinking to myself in the second half that day what a pointless (in every way) exercise it was sitting there watching CAFC lose a game they were never ever going to take anything from. That I hated the disdain of the home crowd. That going to Anfield, Goodison, St James etc wasn't a buzz once you've been a few times and that the season revolved around the games with the 6 - 8 teams who were going to struggle with us.
I remember when we went up in the 80's and to the Prem on both occasions and I know there were great days and nights but as I watched the few Norwich coaches leave I couldn't get the thought out of my head that week in, week out for clubs like us the experience of the Prem really isn't that great.
I would find it very hard to pay more than we already do for some Championship games to turn up and lose as we did on numerous occasions just like the yokels did yesterday. 2-0 always did seem to mean that we had been dismissed not defeated in a contest. 2-0 just feels terrible.
See you in the play offs.

...... and the Vicar won't be on anything like his wages too!
Once a season you come up with a stonking result - putting 4 past Arsenal, 4 past Chelsea. But you do get to see some top players, mainly the opposition's!
;o)
In the 01/02 season we won away at Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Ipswich and only lost 5 of 19 away from the Valley.
In 02/03 we picked up points in 9 of 19 away games.
In 03/04 we only lost 7 on the road, again out of 19. And that included 7 wins at places Liverpool, Spurs, Everton & Blackburn.
In 04/05 we again picked up points in 9 of 19 away games and won at Spurs (again!) and Everton (again!) and Palace
In 05/06 once again we picked up points in 9 of 19 away games and picked up draws at the teams finishing top (Chelsea) and third (Liverpool).
The relegation season was obviously horrible but I don't think that should be used as a judgement of those Premier League seasons....we actually had a decent record.
