Skyfall, however, wasn't just full of holes - how did a man get shot, drown, and end up drinking tequila - but it had a story and resolution without integrity. Not only was the ending utterly nonsensical, but it undid the fine work that started with Casino Royale!

    Oh dear.......
    That all you got troll?
Yeah, and a life unlike you obviously.
So you're still rocking the 'get a life' comeback... Do you still quote Wayne's World too?

The posts on this thread are MUCH longer though. And some taking themselves too seriously.
  • Hmmmmm.....
  • It was very good. No longer, it's gone too silly.
  • Liked the first two episodes this series but was lost and bored with tonight's.

I feel the exact opposite, NLN ! Didn't really enjoy the last 2 - too contrived for me.

Thought tonight's was quite brilliant & kept me wondering what would happen next right to the very end.

Agreed. Thought the second episode was dreadful but tonights was brilliant!

  • Though the baddie was good, bit just couldn't get into it!
  • I thought the ending with the broadcast message was an overused Dr Who cliche.
  • Dropped off last week.

    Hooked tonight.

Enjoyed it. I'm new to this incarnation of Holmes but will now dig out the previous ones of this production.
Excellent Timeshift documentary on BBC4 tonight about all the different versions of Holmes. Well worth catching up with on BBC i-player if you missed it. It's got me interested again in the whole Holmes phenomenon.
I have a box set of the Basil Rathbone films and fancy revisiting them. Also I loved the Billy Wilder film from the 70's with Robert Stephens and Colin Blakely.
  • I thought that was really good, pretty dark subject matter too

The ending was a bit Doctor Whoish I concede, but a clever cliffhanger for Series 4 (whenever that might be!)
  • Found myself feeling glad that this series is only 3 episodes. Trying to be too clever and shocking. Needs to get back to basics with solving intriguing cases.

Has it jumped the shark or a brief lull in quality.?
  • Fell asleep so watching again tonight. Did have to rewind a few times when we were awake as we 'didn't get it'. Hoping the last half hour makes things clearer!
  • Thought it was good. Certainly the best out the 3. Martin Freeman is a terrific actor.

The cliffhangers good, but the fact that bill boards were showing (it) was ridiculous.

This is where I am at. It's very good at what it does, but it's hardly Sherlock Holmes any more. There has only been one proper mystery for him to solve in all three episodes (the killer in episode 2), it seems to me that the writers have fallen in love with their own writing a bit. This cliffhanger is a good example - SPOILER WARNING yes very dramatic and clever, but both Holmes and Moriarity (apparently) died, but oh no not really. So why the hell should we believe next time will be any kind of real conclusion?
  • Sherlock Holmes never lived so he cannot die.

A line from the BBC4 doc last night.
