Apparently from those ITK, his son is an Arsenal supporter, but the guy himself supported Charlton all his life and because of his son, took on Arsenal as his second club. So both sides of the argument are in a way correct...
RIP ronnie i was at the funeral ronnie followed a few teams bearing in mind he was on on holliday for a while! love or hate i aint gonna speak ill of the dead and there was a charlton scarf on show .
Why?
That is either incredibly insensitive or just downright rude.
Dont worry albo1973....just ignore the wind up merchant

Not a fan of Riviera but he is entitled to ask why he attended. Extended family, old neighbour, wannabe gangster etc. he put it out there that he had attended Thought it was a fair enough comment.
Sad that a man who made some stupid mistakes in his youth as a result of opportunity or it's lack and greed spent much of his life running away from the consequences. This whole thing about missing Charlton seems to me to indicate something wider - a real sense of homesickness for his home and his life, friends, community.
I live in Cornwall and I wasn't even born there, but I miss SE London like mad sometimes - and I come back occasionally to watch a match. (That brings me back to reality.)
As a paid up Guardian reading lefty it does occur to me that many who see him in a positive light are from the same persuasion that would lock em up and throw away the key if the same crime happened today.
There but for fortune. Bad choices, bad luck. RIP.
I think the question as to why is rather too personal. He attended and that's what he chose to tell us. On that basis his post informed this discussion.
as a paid up member of the Genghis Khan far right club it always makes me laugh when the oooo so moral Lefty Guardianistas who bang on about INCLUSION want to keep some "types" away from being CAFC because "they aint the Charlton type".
A small time crook whose reputation was disproportionally enhanced by his involvement in the GTR. Worked the system for his own ends both here and in Brazil plenty of people admired him god knows why. When you analyse it his entire life was led on lies and deceit so I couldn't care less if he supported us or not.

Is that better?

I can just picture Bruce Reynolds planning this by the blackboard.
'Right, we need someone who can move this train. Who knows any Charlton supporters?'
