Train to Liege

Thinking about taking in a Standard Liege game as they are now our sister club!

Eurostar have a £59 return offer on at the moment (until April - 120,000 tickets) to Brussels and the return from Brussels to Liege is £18 not bad for £77.

I'm sure our train experts could find a better deal but it didn't seem to bad to me.

Perhaps we should organise an away day!

  • Trains cancelled due to leaves on the line. Liege and Lief.
  • It's a good ground, with steep stands in a nicely run down area. But in the past, Belgian footy has been member-only so best check that out before you set off.
  • When I travelled to Gent in 2011 our Eurostar ticket was valid on any trains from Brussels to any other Belgian station on the same day as that ticket. Not sure if that is still the case but worth looking into, might even save yourself a few extra bob.
  • If Roland has a network of clubs, then absolutely yes, a nice pre season tournament played at Liege and the K Sint-Truidense VV ground involving his teams seems to be good way to go. I would be up for that next July/August.
  • Official CLIT trip?

    Yes, identity cards required: http://www.standard.be/ticketing/venir-voir-un-match/tickets-abonnements.htm?lng=en

Went to Bruges a few days ago and you can still use the Eurostar ticket to anywhere in Belgium. Fast trains take 45 minutes from Brussels, so you can in Liege in about 4 hours from St Pancras
  • I was thinking about paying them a visit too. Good beer also ;-)
