Can we send him back now? (Sordell)

Not meaning to open a can of worms, but here's a genuine question:

If Marvin Sordell is injured, are we allowed to send him back to Bolton? I know there's been conflicting comments about whether we have the power to send him back, or if it's entirely down to Bolton?

  • 'A bit disturbing that a few seem to be happy I've torn my hamstring. I'm a positive person though so I know I'll be back fitter and stronger'

There's some right muppets on twitter.
  • Sordell will come good
  • I wish him a speedy recovery.
  • We looked more of a goal threat with him in the team then Church
  • I feel that he has never been given a good run in the team I for one would play him over church
  • Thought he did Ok today, but didn't have a lot of pace and when he did go on a sprint his hamstring went. Obviously needs more game time, but will now be out for several weeks.
  • Problem that could happen to any player who has not played much then playing in these conditions, real shame for him. There is an big difference between training ground matches and real games.

Amazed if one of ours has sent him a message to that effect yep, "right muppets". I know he's not set our world alight but for Gods sake.
  • We look better going forward with him in the team then Church.

If they can slag off Jackson, as they have in the past, then Sordell has no chance! Sadly players are fair game to the twitter twats if they have a twitter account and there only recourse is to treat with disdain as Jacko did or close down their accounts as Benson did.

    Not to me we don't.

I felt he was starting to get involved and looked decent when his hammy went ping.

Really feel sorry for the lad as was looking to be a good shout up front with Yann.

Hope he comes back fitter & stronger with an appetite for regaining his place in the squad.

  • If its torn thats like six weeks isn't it?
  • Thought he was ok today to be fair.
  • Bit gutted for the fella, hasn't played a lot recently, and when he does get some game time he gets injured.

    Yep.

Usually reckon 3 weeks for a pulled hamstring, and 6 weeks if it's torn.

Which, based on what seems to happen to our injured players, means three months. Then he will need to get match fit and he clearly isn't now due to the lack of games. I doubt we will see him play much more for us at all.

I have nothing against the player, and it don't think he's been given a fair run in the side, but I'd be happy to send him back now.
  • I hope he is ok and the injury is not serious.

I do however also hope he gets sent back to Bolton.

After I saw this tweet I checked to see what abuse he had got. Could not see anything, but I hear he was cheered off at the game so maybe he is referring to that?
  • I'm guessing he'll go back to Bolton to be assessed etc... yet when fully fit again will he automatically return to Charlton to see out his loan?

    Never sure how it works

  • I don't suppose Bolton really care too much. It is clear that they want rid of him (if for financial reasons only) and don't care if he's playing with us or in our treatment room.

I still think the player has a lot to offer but it is my best guess that Bolton will not recover anything like the £3.5m they paid for him.
  • Did he pull something with his 1 decent moment (shot on the edge of the box)? I'd gone to try and get beer only to be told we're as bad as Millwall and Leeds so they don't sell us beer after kick off... He's a talented player, sadly he chooses to wander about, I'm overweight and have got a dodgy knee and I reckon I'm more mobile than him... Thought Cook looked lively when he came on

I think that is a pretty fair bet!
  • Disturbingly read some moron(s) glad Sordell is injured, any person saying that about any of our players should be rooted out and banned from the Valley for life!
  • He's not had a run in the side but he can hardly complain having done next to nothing when he has got on. He's miles away from a £3m+ valuation and representing England at U21. Not being unkind but if you can't shine without an out-and-out striker, not sure there are too many better opportunities out there. Anyone would score given enough playing time....
