  • news to me dude
  • I seem to recall hearing this a couple of weeks ago - may even have been in the bulletin.
  • It probably came up in the press conference in advance of this weekend's game.
  • Are we surprised with his injury record? I'm sure i heard a couple of weeks back he was unlikely to play again this season. He is the new Gary Rowett/Gary Poole/ Sorondo............
  • No major surprise.

I know im in the minority but I firmly believe this will be one of our worst transfer decisions ever.

    What about Traore?
  • Surely not worse than the 2-3m we spent on Jeffers so he could sit in the pub and go to the venue and deja vu?
  • Rowett £2.5 mill

    Traore £2 mill

    Shields - remember him? 400k

    Bradley Allen - 400k

Faye is alright in my book

    Jeffers & Murphy £5mill!!

At least Reidy plays like he cares and wants to wear the shirt

It's so tight he can't get it off! ;o)

  • Fair one!!
  • I forgot to mention Neil Redfearn £1mill+ at a time when we really shouldn't have spent that sort of cash!!

    Useless fat wanker
  • Shields played well the year we got promoted, just fell out with curbs.
  • I liked shields, I just wonder why we didn't appear to recoup any money on him. Or am I wrong?

Charlton spent (only!) £500, 000 on Jeffers. First instalment.

Which was why he never made a single league appearance for us last year.
One more additional appearance would have triggered full payment of £2.5 million.
  • Nothing wrong with Reid the player in my opinion, committed, cultured left foot, can actually create. Just a few injury problems which they have found the actual cause of this time, sending him to Harley street for a proper diagnosis then appropriate treatment, soemthing spurs never actually bothered to do with him FACT. We are taking the pain now for hopefully a fully fit player next season.

    good post ketters
  • Agree, the pennies dropped, instead of just patching the bloke up they've finally
seen sense to sort the actual problem.
  • Carter

    I'll give you Traore

Rowett and Jeffers we paid nowhere near that much.

Mu**hy we got our money back on

I dont mind Reid, nice left foot, decent passer and all that. Just think we paid treble what we should have done for an injury prone player that hadnt proven himself in the premiership.

It was a Dowie panic buy, when he missed out on the Uruguyan. I dont mind a gamble, but a £3m gamble is too much for our club.
  • Someone said it earlier, he seems to be our new Sorondo/Rowett/Poole/ Gibbs (remember him - no, thought not!)

  • Traore has to be the worst signing ever. It was his stupidity that led us down the slippery slope in the first game. Has there ever been a more useless lump to win The Champions League?
  • Agreed Jimmy. Traore is the worst player I have EVER seen in a Charlton shirt. Worst buy ever for 2 million, can't believe Pompey bought him.
  • I actually thought Traore would work out a canny signing, would be an improved player once settled and given a run. What do i know ! I'll stand by though that the sending off at Wham, the bad injury he had, which i believe he was rushed back too quickly from, and the general poor start to the season all combined to make things more difficult. But you can only judge on what you see, and what we saw wasn't good enough.

As for Reid, i'm concerned to be honest. It sounds if he has an acute problem with his hamstring, which is proving very hard to diagnose, and i fear for things such as that.

Just hope we don't send him to the same Harley St specialist that was going to fix my knee then told me after the op i would probably never run again !!
  • Yep. The funny thing was that he helped inspire our recovery in a way. We went to Portsmouth and won just after he'd swapped teams. I wondered at the time how he must have felt to leave a team playing so badly only then to go and lose to them. That's just how awful he is.

Didn't Michael Owen have this sort of hamstring problem as a Liverpool player about 5 years ago?
I seem to remember it messed up his whole season, more or less.
  • Problem with knees is they don't really know till after they've operated.. believe me I've had three ops on the same knee. Apparently I should be able to play sport again, but it hasn't happened so far due to hamstring problems...

    :(
  • Oggy - I seem to remember Owen's hamstring was traced to a problem in the lower back (seems to be quite common), but it did take a long time to diagnose.

Reid is only young and will get over it...

No doubt he and JFH will be out for the 'Full English' on Saturday...
