I think it's a shame. How can people make such forthright judgements on so little evidence? If we'd got Yann in on loan this season we'd be saying he was shit and not interested, but apparently he's still a god.
Interesting reading some of the above quotes about Church being 'only a free transfer, what do we expect'. I'm sure we got Mike Flanagan and Paul Mortimer on 'frees'. In my opinion both great players!
Does anyone know if there is a break clause for Sordell? Someone should show him Jeffers career history and see if he wants to end up like that. If he' snot up for it he should go as we have no room for passengers. Whether there is a takeover or not the forward positions in the squad need sorting quickly. Afraid I don't rate Church and we need someone up there with Kermorgant to see us up the table.
If he's going to snot up then I think he should be sent home! ;-)
Church chases down the opposition defence, putting them under pressure - which in theory should create defensive errors and attacking space for team mates to exploit.
Or when we are under pressure ourselves, as Curbs used to call it, defending from the front.
It might not result directly in goals scored, but Powell will see it as an important part of team play.

Well said. Church is tougher and contributes more than some people appreciate. He's a more effective partner for Kermorgant than Sordell, Pigott or Harriott.

So if all this running around should create defensive errors and space for team mates why is it that we have scored 17 goals in 21 league games?.

Also a good point.
Defending is a team responsibility, scoring is a team responsibility.
With the possible exception of Stewart, has anyone in the team really been pulling their weight in terms of goals this season?
Church should definitely have more as he has missed two or three real sitters, he's also scored a couple of very good goals that a lot of players in our team wouldn't have. I don't think a defender has scored yet (could be wrong about this one) and midfield goals (Stewart aside) have been very thin on the ground. The whole team need to be doing more - take the goal vs Bolton as an example - Wiggins was in a dangerous position on the left but we had only three players in the box vs 8 Bolton + the keeper. On this occasion Kerm's movement was sharp and Wiggins picked him out accurately, but we need to play the percentages game more - when the ball is out wide one of the centre mids and the opposite sided midfielder need to be in or around the box.
You could argue Stewart's goals have replaced the one's Haynes scored last season and that Church has taken up the slack left by Fuller (albeit not by scoring from 30 yards like big Ric did). Our top goal scorers from last season were Jacko and Kermorgant, both of whom have been injured/suspended a lot so far this season, it's not really a surprise we're not scoring as often.
Hopefully Kermorgant is now fully fit and will stay that way, that will help a lot but players need to be thinking about (and encouraged by the manager to) get into goalscoring areas whenever they can - the more players we have up there, the better the chances of the ball finding it's way to one of them and the less pressure there is on it being a very accurate final ball.
Thought he looked slow and uninterested when i've seen him. I wasn't sure if he was just trying to lull the oppo into a false sense of security that he's just a cardboard cut out and not part of the team so doesn't need marking, then suddenly burst into life., take the ball round three defenders and slot home surprizing the defenders, the fans and even his manager
On the face of it to me Sordell hasn't been given a run in the team to see how could he could be. However Chris Powell would see him in training and u21 matches and maybe his attitude isn't all it should be.

A forward is only in the team to score goals, he shouldn't do anything else.
