Playing Chain

I believe these players give an unbroken chain (other than war time) from the present day back to our first season in 1905.

My self imposed rules are firstly that a named player must have made at least one league appearance in any season and secondly that the linking players actually have played together in a league fixture so here goes:

Jackson
Fortune
Robinson (John)
Gritt
Peacock
Hewie
Bartram
Smith (Norman)
Goodman (Abraham)
Mitchell (John)

I make that 10 players. Can anyone beat or equal it?

Amazing what a bout of insomnia makes you think about!

  • Brilliant piece of work, Len. They're not the best players to have played for Charlton (I have to confess ignorance about Messrs Smith, Goodman and Mitchell), but all were assuredly good club servants. I'll be surprised if anyone will find 20 players to cover 200 years in 2113.
