If we lose on Saturday, how will you feel?

"Deffo going down" or "We will get a run going soon and stay up"....

  • It's far too early in the season to say that any team is 'deffo going down'.

I honestly think we'll be OK. But mentality is a big part of it - the more negativity there is around the club (and that includes the fans) the harder it will be.
  • Bit not bothered about it all TBH.

The situation at our club has me very disheartened and dissapointed...

Yeah its funny because if the takeover happened with the american billionaire, Id be like "we lost and we might go down, but we have loads of money to invest, so the futures pretty bright.". Now I dread to think what would happen if we went down, so Id feel a lot worse after another defeat....
  • Definitely more than concerned. If we lose as we all anticipate, we will have taken just 4 points from a possible 21. That is relegation form in any league!! Also not the best way to head into the busy Christmas schedule. The problem for me is I can't see us turning things around anytime soon. The team have offered us nothing that would suggest otherwise.

Apart from being 2 goals up away from home last Saturday.

Yes, we threw it away and it was all our own doing - but to suggest that there are no positives at the moment is a bit OTT.

Surely you just answered your own point. We was 2 goals up (a minor miracle) against what is probably the worst team in this league and we cant hold on. In fact we struggle to take a point out of the game. Might just be me, but I struggle to see that as a positive.

  • Ive instructed my family to remove my shoe laces and belt's and hide all sharp objects if we lose

Pretty much this, throwing away a 2 nil lead against the bottom club doesnt mean much of a net gain on good points....
  • We are in a relegation scrap with a team that struggles to score goals. Players and manager soon to be out of contract and a board that wants out and to spend not a penny more. A defeat v Derby will feel like a real body blow.

  • Same as i feel every time we've lost. Annoyed, disappointed and hopeful for next time. This season was always going to be tough with no decent investment players.

    exactly... same here
  • Same as I feel after every loss .......... With my hands
  • Expect us to lose and am prepared for relegation. Thought we'd turned a corner after the Doncaster game but since then I've gradually lost hope.

Very disappointing given the progress we made last season. Future seems very uncertain.

I have faith we will stay up because we are not a bad side. We could go down because we have a specific issue (goalscoring) but hopefully a specific issue is easier to address than the multitude of issues we had when we last went down.

Neither winning or losing on Saturday will mean we are safe or in danger. But the sooner we sort out the issue the better. Having said that, we have had to deal with more than our fair share of bad luck in recent weeks and it would be nice to think we might get a decent ref who doesn't want to show how unbiased he is by siding against the home side - as we normally do. Of course they wouldn't be so brave if they were reffing at Anfield or Old Trafford.

  • Must be honest, I am expecting us to lose, but if I see a team giving everything for the cause I can take it. I've been here so many times over the years, and as an old guy I have learned the hard way that my priorities concern the people with whom I share a loving relationship. I have loved football all my life, and one way or another I will do so whatever the circumstances. However on Saturday I will be shouting as loud as anyone, and learn the lesson folks don't let a bunch of blokes chasing an inflated bag make you spoil either yours or someone elses day.
  • I will be gutted but I'm gonna remain optimistic after the run we ended on last season. The Championship is a funny old league. But we all have got to get behind the team on Saturday whatever the result. Cannot actually stand fans that direct verbal abuse towards Powell, after all he has done down the years for this club as well. With the current financial predicament the club is in/negative stuff - we should all be united as one and get behind Powell as well as the team.
  • We are already a cert for the bottom six - nothing will change to improve us enough.

If we lose to Derby, we then face Bolton and Brighton, before the 6-pointer against the Massives.

I am mentally prepared to start 2014 on the bottom of the Championship.

Sad times, but we just don't have the quality to compete in this league.
  • Well bang goes the positivity I was looking for lol

I wont be happy if we lose but i wont be devastated either because i fully expect it to happen.
I have not seen Charlton win this season despite going to most home games and a few away , so a home win will be more shocking.
At the moment i'm not "feeling" Charlton as i have done over my many supporting years and i think quite a few other fans feel like me.
I can't put my finger on exactly why , as there are a few factors.

The way the club ( staff , fans etc ..) is being treated by the board and the deafening silence . The lack of investment in players and another season fighting relegation . The Valley experience as a whole is the worst it's ever been with the lousy shop and the terrible catering and finally having my hopes dashed every few months with these ridiculous takeover collapses .

It will get better i'm sure and i will continue to buy my season tickets for me and my sons but i dont look forward to the games like i used to and i hope that feeling comes back soon.

Although i have seen us win....This.

  • I think points against a rampant Rams would be a bonus, but I'll be disappointed
