...we're out the cup at round three...
  • Even with reduced ticket prices how much will it affect the gate? A few thousand at most i think.

They should draw the 4th round the same day as the 3rd.

Charlton or Wrexham/Oxford vs. Arsenal or Tottenham (or other PL team or local derby) might get a few more people interested.

I know that it can go the other way and we could get another snoozer in the 4th round, but then there would be a possible pathway to the last 16 to keep us interested.

    Just a thought.

    Reckon we'll get about 8K

Christ. Don't get Matt Smith to do it. He struggled to read or hear correctly during that shambles this afternoon
  • Too many on here already assuming we will make the 4th round.

    Two words: Northwich Victoria.
  • I don't know why there is such pessimism on here - I know we have a dreadful record in cup competitions, but its FA Cup 3rd round day so I. for one, will be going. Also, we can't put out a "weakened" side, as our 1st choice 11 is weak anyway !!

Very unlikely unless it's a fiver a ticket and kid for a quid and i dont think Oxford or Wrexham will agree to that as they get a share of the gate.

Not assuming anything Len. Both are banana skins but we should be confident of beating Oxford after dispatching of them comfortably back in August. With a second string side.

Wrexham are a league below them so we should be equally confident there.

Of course anything could happen but this is a lot different to Northwich lot.

Not allowed (adults, you could have Kid for a Quid)) and they have no say.

    he was awful
  • I started thinking that he said a team twice? Didn't trust what he was saying!!

I reckon it should be re-drawn! (I wish)
  • Great tie, we should be able to progress to the 4th round, which is a cup run by our standards!
  • I reckon there'll be about 5-6,000, including 1,000 or so away fans.

I'd like to see Wrexham get through. They have a good cup tradition and a 100% record against us in the League and FA Cup (not that this particularly distinguishes them or is anything to shout about).
  • Least we'll be on early during the highlights show...

Not a bad shout but as you said if the potential tie is Middlesboro or Hull for example, then the whole "Let's concentrate on the league" attitude will kick in.

  • I think someone should start an excuses not to go to Oxford/Wrexham thread , it could be quite long.
  • 1 Ball away from Man United at home! Imagine!

Could opportunity to scrabble together some money from a decent cup run, already seen Oxford play haven't we and last Weds I played a rather boring Uni match at Wrexham and ended up watching them train for 75mins of the match! They looked a decent outfit, and they weren't exactly taking it easy on each other!

  • Oxford have a bit of a "naughty" rep don't they ? I remember a game at Oxford (might have been early 90s) and have a vague recolection of some aggrovation.

I think your right PL , it must be all those Oxbridge types.

I think it's the Town working hard not to be labelled as Gown. Wrexham have their fair share of nutters too.

Can we get this excuses thread up - I have mine lined up already.
  • Oh go on then....
  • Hope I'm working
    Or fishing
    Or anything really
  • Really enjoyed that draw with Matt Smith and the Sheringhams, looking forward to

    Liverpool v Stoke v Chesterfield
    West Brom v
    Uruguay v Macclesfield
    &
San Francisco49ers or Tim Henman v Derby or Ascot Racecourse

Wonder which one they'll pick for TV

    Timmy Mallet

  • Will we play a "b" team
  • Im guessing Oxford should win that one... But I sense a bloody pattern forming here as its been Huddersfield (FA Cup), Oxford (League Cup), Hudersfield (League Cup) Oxford (possibly FA Cup)

    HO HO HO

    Yes. And we'll still lose.
  • We lost 6-0 to Wrexham in the Cup once...
