Just how important is the Yeovil game?

  • Powell will not get sacked if we lose, and nor should he.

Agreed. Even if the current owners wanted to get rid of him it is clear they are not throwing any more money at the club so aren't going to stump up the cash to pay off the last 6 months or so of his contract.

It could well be that if there is no takeover by the new year and funds available to strengthen in January then CP may well put his hands up and say I have taken this group of players as far as I can, my hands are tied so I will walk away and let somebody else try their luck. Wouldn't blame him if he did do that to be honest!
  • I think playing them on the back of their two wins could be a good time to face them actually... they'll have a little bit of confidence, they'll think we're there for the taking (and maybe they're right in thinking that) but too much confidence could mean they'll get a bit cocky and they'll make a few mistakes.

We could definitely do with winning the match but I dont think its THAT important if we dont win...

Seem to remember a West Ham game a few years ago which was like this (and it was more important as it was around March time) we won 4-0 yet at the end of the season we were relegated and they stayed up, partly because that defeat and the unfortunate 4-3 defeat to Spurs gave them the kick up the arse (regardless of the fact they had Tevez etc...)

Also we win this match and we could be sitting pretty in 15th / 16th - We lose and we'll still only be just off 15th / 16th

It is an important game, but there are enough games remaining for things to still go up or down whatever the result. The positive is that we are not playing as bad as our results suggest, the negative is that enough blows and that can suddenly happen! For this reason a victory could really galvanate us. If we showed some inkling that we knew where the goal was, I would be pretty confident as I think we are a better side than them in most areas, but as that is an issue - I am slightly worried, especially as their form has picked up of late.
  • It's important but not the be all and end all. After their poor performance at The Valley Doncaster went and beat QPR. This league is unpredictable.
  • Huge game, not only because of where Yeovil are in the table, but also because we then play against a resurgent Derby next. Lose on saturday and we could well be looking at 6 defeats in 7 games heading into the xmas period
  • Yes definitely, I would say we are no more than a couple of players away from being as good as anybody in this league.

The fact that we've sacked our manager as well as Barnsley will heap pressure on your Board IMO, but not the manager, I don't know what your Board is like but if both we and Barnsley get decent results on Saturday (very unlikely) and you lose to Yeovil then who knows?
